This independent house may be a stone’s throw from a traditional village, but it has a wonderful modern touch! Newly renovated, painted a brilliant white in stark contrast to the blue Greek sky, it is surrounded by its own private garden with an outdoor dining area and barbecue, while the interior is elegant, minimalistic yet comfortable, with all the modern comforts that will make your stay memorable. The open plan spacious kitchen and dining area are perfect for sharing long, energizing breakfasts with fresh bread, fruits and local delicacies, such as honey and the fantastic Cretan Graviera cheese. In the evening, your barbecuing skills can be put to the test over the stone-built BBQ, with dinner served al fresco on the veranda, accompanied by local wine or the world-famous Cretan raki.



The Rooms
As you first walk into ‘Casa Lakónia in Crete’ you are struck by the space and the light. The open plan living area – sitting room, dining table and kitchen – is spacious and airy with natural light flowing through the many windows. Large, inviting sofas and a flat-screen TV, a dining table and chairs, a fully equipped kitchen with a counter and bar stools, what a place to return to after a hard day’s exploration! The 5 bedrooms (three of which have double beds) are situated off this main area, while there are also three bathrooms. All the bedrooms have direct access to the beautiful garden and grounds.


The Location
Casa Lakónia in Crete, is located in a complex of small villages in Agios Nikolaos district in Crete: the villages named Lakonia (pronounced Lakónia). The area has all one needs: two authentic Cretan cafés, two tavernas, a small supermarket and sports facilities. The city of Agios Nikolaos, the regional capital, is only 6.5 km away by car; it is a vibrant town whose social activity is mainly centered around a picturesque lagoon: cafés, restaurants, bars and shops line its shores and at night it comes alive with locals and tourists.

Some of the island’s most famous beaches (all awarded with the blue flag!) are to be found at less than 10 km from Lakonia: Almyros is only 6.8 km away and Amoudara is at 7.2 km. Other fabulous beaches that can be reached easily by car are Pumpkin and Plaka in Elounda, Voulisma in Kalo Chorio, Mochlos, renowned for its picturesque tavernas, Makris Gialos in Ierapetra, Itanos, where the sunken city of Erimoupoli is (which makes it ideal for divers), and the Gold Coast (Chryssi Akti) of Gaidouronisi, a small island in the Libyan Sea and a Natura 2000 site, which can be reached by boat from Ierapetra (regular service, a 35 minute crossing).

Here, you can taste the true flavor of Cretan cuisine: a world-famous cuisine for its fantastic fresh locally-sourced ingredients – olive oil, vegetables, cheeses etc.- and incredible recipes. Equally famous is Cretan raki, enjoyed as an aperitif, a digestif and everything in between!
