My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Château de Moulin le Comte. Lovely to see a young couple living their dream of owning a Château. Very much like the UK television series Escape to the Château.
I urge people to stay at the Château de Moulin le Comte you are supporting real people giving real service.
Our room in the Château was large with its own large bathroom and toilet. The location is great for channel ferries and I will definitely stay there again and stay a couple of nights to explore the area.
We stayed overnight on our way back from the South of France. It is a beautiful place in a tiny village. Our room was lovely with a huge comfy bed and a large modern bathroom. The shower was great with plenty of hot water.
We couldn’t check in until 4pm and the door is locked at 11pm but this wasn’t a problem for us. It was quiet and peaceful and exactly what we needed after a long drive.
We ate dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. The hosts are really welcoming and made us feel at home. We would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were clean and the house has beautiful ornate rooms. Beds were comfortable. Overall though, this was overpriced as many elements felt like money saving opportunities for the owners. Tea and coffee in the rooms were very basic, bread and pastries at breakfast tasted cheap (possibly from a supermarket rather than a proper bakery) and the limited buffet selection was what you would expect from a much cheaper hotel.
This was the most inconvenient and inappropriately advertised stay I have ever encountered. We booked on Expedia and specifically looked for regulations as we are familiar with French properties having special or unusual restrictions than USA. I combed through this adverstiment with a fine tooth comb and found nothing other than check in stops at 11p. We arrive and during check in we were notified that doors lock at 11p as well we will have no access to our room daily from 11a-4p. This, we were told, was due to local regulations. Again, nothing of this was mentioned on Expedia. We arrived late so we checked in and stayed the night. We booked this stay for 2 adults and 1 infant. When on vacation or traveling, our hotel is supposed to be our place of rest however here you are denied access to the room you pay almost $200/night to. This is ridiculously unreasonable, especially for us with an infant that has daily naps. We addressed this with the property owners and after some discussion we told them we are leaving and we would like a refund for the nights we did not stay. We booked a total of 8, we slept 2 and they only refunded us 5. There was also no heat. They had space heaters in each room. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the shower made a screeching noise when in use. I respect this is an old property, but this was us accommodating them and not vice versa. The handing of finances is beyond nickel and diming. Clearly they don’t understand the business of hospitality.
Have been befor and enjoyed my stay very attentive host i love places with character its good value they do five vourse evening meal..reasonable price a delicious. Also less than one hour from Calis
A very friendly welcome from your host nothing is too much trouble
The hotel is a fantastically renovated chateaux with loads of character well worth staying if either for a one night stopover as we did or for a longer stay to visit that area of France
Our 4th time here, a re-modeled chateau that has preserved the 19th century ambiance, with exception that bathrooms are 21st century boutique hotel style. Large rooms with tall celiings, quiet location at the edge of town in farm area. Owners are excellent chefs who serve the best dinner in the area at low cost, using local produce. Full breakfast is more than ample. Location is near St Omer which also has good restaurants. Not much going on in Aire sur la lys, but it is a historic town with a few small restaurants.
The Chateau Molin is a lovely old house. We were greeted in the cobbled courtyard by the father and son owners and went into the lobby which is a beautiful entryway, but had a weird unpleasant smell - sort of a mix of pee and very ripe cheese. We had a slightly Sidney Greenstreet/Peter Lorre welcome from the father who then went to the kitchen to continue cooking. The son took us to the room which was lovely - big, airy with a view over the large shaded garden. Everything was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We didn't eat dinner since we didn't want that much. Breakfast was typical - bread, croissants, cereal, hardboiled eggs, homemade jams which were very nice. It was a slightly quirky stay and convenient for the Eurotunnel the next morning (after we negotiated the blocked roads).
A beautiful family run period property. Very comfortable in a quiet area with lovely grounds & outdoor seating area. Great food & a really warm welcome by the owners.
This is a beautiful hotel, built in 1850 and having an opulence that makes you feel like royalty. Francis, the owner met us and gave us a tour before showing us our room on the first floor. It was very spacious, with a canopied bed and a great view of the garden. It is lovely and peaceful with a comfy bed and tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom had a hairdryer which is very useful. The continental breakfast is lovely with some of the nicest bread and croissants we have tasted. Cedric, Francis's dad introduced himself to us and we did feel very welcome.
A really nice place to stay and not too far from Dunkirk about 60 kms.
This was our first time at this hotel - overall very impressed. If you are looking for a typical corporate 4 star hotel, it is probably not the place for you but the room was comfortable, food good (but limited choice) and the owners very attentive.
The place was easy to find on satnav.
Room was spacious, comfortable and very quiet.
Very enjoyable dinner with first class service. Even the house wine was a very nice Chablis!
Breakfast was also very pleasant.
The owners Francis and Cedric could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
