Private Mountainside Perch with Hot Tub / Pet Friendly / Retro Chic - Alpine Haus

Alpine Haus gives you the privacy of being nestled in the woods while still enjoying great mountain views!

This beautiful mountain house is located in peaceful Placer Valley just North of Alma in Park County - only 25 miles from Breckenridge! Family friendly or ideal for a small group of close friends to share, this cozy 2 bedroom home with an open loft sleeping area and single bathroom has something to offer everyone in your party. The home is very secluded and on a heavily wooded property that offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Placer Valley is home to a variety of wildlife and this spectacular location affords opportunities to observe Elk, Deer and Foxes (just to name a few!) right on the property. Additionally, the wetland area located less than 2 miles from the home is one of the few areas where you may be able to see Moose in their natural habitat.

The unique architecture of this home offers a wonderful high alpine experience with a wood burning stove on a large stone hearth, open concept living room with comfortable seating and plentiful dining space accented with tasteful retro chic decor. The first floor bedroom has a full size mattress and the second floor bedroom has a Queen size mattress, cozy comforters and luxury linens ensuring that you wake well rested and refreshed - ready for any adventure that a day in the Rocky Mountains may afford. The open loft offers two comfortable twin beds, perfect for the kids in the family, the young at heart or just for an afternoon lounging with a bowl of popcorn and your favorite movie on the television - and there is even enough floor space to play one of the many games available, or build a blanket fort! Step into the full size kitchen with it's stainless steel appliances and plenty of counter space; fully stocked with all the cooking, baking and serving dishes you will need to whip up a delicious meal and share it with your favorite people. With the Bathtub/Shower combo, you can hop in for a quick refreshing shower after a warm summer day of hiking or you may choose to sink in for a long hot soak in the tub after a full day on the slopes. The washer and dryer is easily accessible in a laundry closet off of the first floor bedroom - so no need to waste precious vacation time hauling dirty items to the laundromat in town.

The large elevated deck is a gorgeous relaxation space. Available on the deck for your enjoyment is a large outdoor dining table and chairs with a gas grill for the full outdoor dining experience, comfortable patio furniture where you can drink in the mountain views along with your tasty morning brews and a gas fire pit around which you may enjoy an evening drink under the pines in the company of a thousand stars.

Family friendly or ideal for a small group of close friends to share, this cozy two bedroom home with an open loft sleeping area offers something for everyone in your party. Welcome to your Park County "Haus" away from home!

Christmas vacation
Overall our trip was wonderful. Things to know.. Alma is at a very high elevation and altitude sickness is real. All 5 of us experienced it. We did acclimate after the first day thankfully. The cabin is very cute and cozy but the furniture is not comfortable. There is only one bathroom that needs updating.and a much larger hot water heater. The shower ran out of hot water within 5 minutes. Check in/out was simple and communication was easy. Be sure to have an all terrain vehicle to get up the steep mountain. The hot tub was wonderful and overall we had everything we needed for a great family vacation.

Cabin Getaway
If you’re looking for a remote trip - this is perfect! The roads can be a little difficult when there’s snow - so take the 4wd and snow chains comments seriously. The owners were extremely responsive and the place was well stocked and clean. The hot tub is in a perfect location to see the stars. It truly was a perfectly relaxing vacation and we would 100% stay again!

Quiet stay to beat the heat.
We picked the house because of the location - quiet and secluded. Close to Salida and Breckenridge, it was the perfect spot for us. It had everything needed to relax and disconnect. The communication with the owner/manager was exceptional and we look forward to staying in this cabin again.

Secluded Mountain Cabin
Quaint little cabin, secluded in the mountains. Very modern rustic, simplistic vibe. Plenty of wildlife to view on the property, including many beautiful hummingbirds. The kitchen was great and stocked with anything you may need. The home is dog friendly, and there is a cozy wraparound porch with fire pit, dining table, and grill. The porch does not have gates on the stair openings to keep the dogs contained, but is very manageable as long as your dogs are behaved and stay nearby. The property is very close to the Hossier dam for fishing and hiking (within a 5-10 minute drive). Also, only a 20-30 minute drive to Breckenridge and/or several other trailheads in the area. Highly recommend the Spruce Creek trail to Mohawk lake!

Beautiful getaway
This cabin is so adorable! Loved the decor and cozy feel. This location was perfect for our family to travel to close surrounding towns and hit some of our favorite hiking trails. Highly recommend! Be aware this elevation is very high and may take some adjustment.

Beautiful Cabin in the Mountains
The cabin and view is gorgeous and the property has all the amenities you could want. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. We also went into Breckenridge for dinner and it was an easy 30 minute drive. I would definitely recommend an AWD car though.

Lovely cabin with great views
The cabin was impeccably clean, with room for 5-6 people comfortably. The hot tub was one of the cleanest hot tubs I've seen at a VRBO or similar property. The view is spectacular and you truly feel secluded. The kitchen is great my only suggestion is that if you're planning on cooking all of your meals bring your own knives, but otherwise, the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. :)

Not for the Non-Outdoorsy
This house is cute, on a mountain, with great views. Unfortunately, we left 3 days early because we couldn’t get our Toyota 4Runner with snow tires up to the house even though there were only a few inches of snow on the ground. We asked the host before booking if tire chains were absolutely necessary, and sent along the details of our rental SUV. They assured us, we’d be fine. After sliding backwards down the road, spinning on the corner and narrowly avoiding sliding off a cliff, we abandoned our car and had to walk 1/2 a mile up to the house. It was terrifying. Furthermore the the description of the home does not emphasize just how remote this area is. We called the non-emergency numbers for the County roads department, the state troopers and the police to inform them the car was there; all were closed. We finally called 9-1-1, and they had one person on duty all night who was just responding to accidents. We didn’t feel safe so we left the next morning. The hostess was not particularly sympathetic and didn’t offer us any compensation for the stay. Don’t stay here unless you’re prepared to rough it.

This is a great place to get away. The view from the deck was amazing. The hummingbirds were extremely active. The hot tub was great. It wasn't a problem for my family, but so be aware that there is a full staircase from the driveway to the deck (and only entrance). We'd stay again!

Great basecamp for Summer & Fall fun
We enjoyed the location for access to hiking trails and off-roading. Probably good for proximity to skiing at Breck. Found some good restaurants in Alma and Fairplay too. Well appointed cabin, kitchen has pretty much everything you need to cook with. Well decorated, good amenities, enjoyed the hot tub, grill, and quiet. Our only issue is that each bed could use is new mattresses,.

Totally Disappointed and disgusted!
Disgusted and disappointed the minute I drove up and saw 15 stairs going up to the first story landing! Not in any pictures, would not have rented unit if I would have known we had to carry everything up a flight of 15 stairs! Also only bed downstairs was supposed to be a queen size, turned out to six inches too short for my six foot frame and mattress was horrible! Definitely not what was advertised! Only exit for the entire cabin is the front door, definitely a fire hazard! Totally disappointed and disgusted!!!
