Disappointing!
We have stayed in other Holiday Inns before and this is well below par. Our room was twin bedded with a sofabed (was unmade - we phoned down and they said they would sort that, which it was later). My partner checked us in & he mentioned he paid for our breakfast too when he paid for the parking. I told him that we breakfast was included and paid for upfront via Hotels.com. The receptionist was very polite and said we were down as room only. Asked me to forward a copy of our booking with Hotels.com and she refunded the breakfast cost along with the car parking charge (which was not necessary, but as a gesture of goodwill). The hotel was very dated and showing lots of wear and tear. Breakfast was disorganised. The hot food was replenished quickly, but all tasteless. Fried eggs were undercooked "very snotty". The coffee machine didn't work properly & my latte was just hot milk. The americano was dreadful too. People were asking things all the time (pastries, butter, glasses, bread for toasting). Pastries were empty for ages and then when they brought them, it was like a stampede, then they were gone. We had to ask for butter and a waiter brought some sliced on a plate (which we appreciated). He said they had run completely out of Lurpak individual packs. The breakfast waiting staff cannot be faulted, they worked hard and eager to please. Think it was the kitchen staff that just couldn't get things out.
