Loved the staff. They are kind and helpful. Cleanliness is okay. Bathroom sink was clogged. May be this is happened to me.

We only stayed there one night. The lobby and reception were fine. The shuttle was good. The room itself was pretty worn out. The refrigerator was very noisy. We had a few items that we wanted to keep cool, but we had to unplug it due to the noise. It was OK (although overpriced for a motel) for one night but we don't recommend it for a longer stay.

Upon arrival at the Hotel, we realizes that someone already charged our card and had agreement signed by someone else and then taped over by the white out tape. We were informed that we had two reservations -not true. But the cherry on the cake was that an our companions, there reservation were cancelled by some mysterious person. So we had to share the room with our friends since the place was completely booked. All my efforts to reach the front desk a few days before and even on the same day did not come to fruition; so I could not inform the Hotel about our late arrival. I would not recommend this Hotel.

Extremely rude staff. Called earlier in the week to confirm shuttle times. When I callled for a shuttle they told me one would be there in 10-15 minutes. The shuttle never showed up and the staff would not answer the phone. We ended up taking a cab. Very unprofessional when we checked in at midnight. It’s not like there were others she was helping.

Property is old and run down. They stuck us in the adjacent building which are exterior hallways and in much worse shape than the main building. Our room- carpet was dirty with large wine stains. Heat did not work, bathroom door did not close and there is no closet. Breakfast- Costco muffins, fruit, cereal and waffles. We asked about the hard boiled eggs and were told the vendor doesn’t deliver on weekends. The only bright spot was the free airport shuttle. Very disappointing end to our Alaskan cruise.

Terrible hotel. No one should go there
We arrived around 11pm. The front desk attendant put us in an inhabable room, with horrible smell and rotten carpet. Junk all over. I returned to the front desk to ask for another room. I was told by the night manager that if I didn’t like it I can leave!! There was no way that I could find another hotel at midnight in anchorage at the height of the season. I literally bagged them to find us another room. They of course lied when they said initially that all the rooms are occupied. They gave us a room with two beds, instead of the queen that I booked. The next day our room was not taken care of by house cleaning. The breakfast was terrible and the attendant was rude. I definitely would not recommend anyone to book this hotel. When I complained to the owner about all of these. He confirmed that the room that we were given was actually closed for renovations, and apologized for the staff behavior. This was the worst hotel experience in my life

Did not have a convenient path to carry suitcases to room. Very small basic room and very dated. AC did not work. Moved to second room it did not work as well. Even the OJ machine at breakfast did not work. Not sure why positive reviews. Would not stay an again.

Staff at Puffin is very helpful and efficient. One of the receptionists, Taz, was great. My room was in the older building section, on the 2nd floor; it was clean and mostly quiet (property is on a fairly busy street). There are some good dining options just across the street. Shuttle runs regularly. The Puffin Inn is located on bus routes that will take you downtown and to other tourist destinations. Breakfast was more that adequate but sometimes juice wasn't available. Overall the Puffin is a very good value for your money.
