The artwork in the lobby is beautiful. The area nearby is very walkable the food options are a little limited depending on the time of day you like to eat. If you are a late night person looking for a quiet time near a simple harbor this city, and this hotel will be perfect for you.

Great location. Room had all amenities. Window facing bay had condensation and black mold. This is a serious issue. Folks can get sick. I know it's winter but this is a major issue considering you get everything else right.

Lovely hotel. Parking assigned was comical. A pole was blocking the parking space, so our driver had to maneuver the van to park. The room temperature was uncomfortable but a front staff person had to assist to open the window for our rooms. We had two reservations and wanted to stay in our initial rooms and willing to pay the difference. The front desk would not try to make that happen. One of a member of our group retired from Sheraton Hotel in Honolulu, Waikiki mentioned they did it all the time at her hotel. So, we had to move rooms which was a bummer.

The close proximity to Aomori station made transportation via walking or taxi incredibly easy and fast. The closeness to the the waterfront was also a delight as it allowed walking on the waterfront as a route back to the hotel which was beautiful and calming. The staff were also excellent and check-in/check-out were easy even in English as the staff keep a translator on hand. The only complaint I have is that there was some slight damage on the windowsill from what looked like moisture, but considering the climate of the area, and that they were clearly aware and working on it makes it extremely forgivable.

The Stay: ART HOTEL Aomori was located a bit of a walk from Aomori station, but still not too bad (unless you have heavy luggage, but you can also take a bus). The hotel itself seem very grand as you enter, with display of Nebuta hanging around the entrance hall. The room itself was within expectation. It comes with all the essential amenities for the stay. The rooms is decent sized for a single person. But you might have to juggle a bit if you have large luggage(s). I did find a few small bugs, but nothing too major. All in all, the stay was a good. The Miscellaneous: Despite Google Map trying to lead you with the shortest route through some random streets. I found starting at Shinmachi Shopping Street, and follow it down to be a more straightforward path. The interior is decorated with Nebuta as you walk in. It definitely attracts some attention. The also offer a paid breakfast buffet if you desire. The food seem decent from pictures, but there are plenty of other options to choose from. The staff were very sincere and helpful, would recommend giving this place a try.

A fairly long walk from the station but well located off the main shopping area. Good amenities, fantastic breakfast included in tariff. Front reception staff pleasant but difficulty with English.

The staff helped us check our bags when we arrived too early for check in, arranged for us to stay in the same room when we extended our stay and arranged for an oscillating fan when we found the room to be too warm. (Temperature is controlled centrally, not in room). They offered to open the window should the fan not suffice. Also enjoyed the breakfast that was included with our stay. All staff were patient with our lack of language skills.

Check in was easy and the view in the room was good. However, there was no control over the AC in the room. It was hard to sleep due to the heat. Japanese style breakfast was the highlight and had a lot of selections with seafood.
