Hotels & Accommodation near Arès and Lège-Cap-Ferret Salt Marshes National Nature Reserve

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The cabins are clean and efficient and we enjoyed sitting on the porch in the afternoons. The staff were very friendly to us non-French speaking folks. Our major disappointment was that, although a restaurant is on the premises, we found out when we checked in that it was already fully booked for dinner both nights of our stay. We were able to get reservations for breakfast; breakfast was adequate, but not outstanding. If would have been helpful if the Hotels.com app mentioned that reservations are recommended. The bed was very firm and somewhat uncomfortable for me, though my husband slept well.

The location of this property was superb, the size and layout was also good. It enabled us as a family to explore the local area via hire car easily. There is however a very big but! On arrival after being let into the property we discovered that both bedrooms were riddled with damp. This is clearly a long term issue. The skirting board had actually come away from the wall it was so bad and there was mildew behind the skirting board. There was a musky damp smell throughout the property. This was not good especially as we travelled with our 6 and 9 Year old, one of which suffers with respiratory issues. There was also a huge amount of mold behind the bed in one of the bedrooms. It was also shocking that the damp surrounded electrical sockets. On a separate issue we had read that various properties in France charged a fee for linen but there was no mention of this in the ad for this property. We were told the day before that we needed to pay 50 Euros, Which we accepted having little choice. We didn't however expect all of the towels to smell of cigarette smoke and have to wash them all ourselves. We should of probably complained but there was little that could have been done given the extent of the issues and we speak little French and the owner speaks no English - this is not a criticism as despite the issues with the property the owner was friendly. The only other thing to highlight-keep your child away from the taps/shower. The water will scold them it's ridiculously hot.

This is a very nice house, really well laid out with comfortable rooms, spaced apart with lots of bathrooms and great spaces for hanging out. The kitchen is well laid out, the outdoor area with pool is lovely with lots of great furniture and eating area. Claouey is a little drive from the Cap, but there is loads of great things there including market, supermarket, takeaway food options, gourmet delicatessen, etc. So you have everything you need, including a pretty beach if you want to hang out there.
