The villa is perfect for socialising with an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area leading out onto a covered terrace. With 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor it’s practical for those not wanting to take the stairs. One of the ground floor bedrooms has sliding doors leading out to the garden. The first floor has a further two bedrooms (inter-connecting) and bathroom, one of which has a covered balcony area with beautiful views. The villa is surrounded by a fenced Mediterranean gravel garden with fruit trees and shrubs. There’s a BBQ, Boules piste and swimming pool with steps (not heated). Due to its rural location, a car is recommended for this property. You can park on the gated driveway or there is free parking on the roadside.
The quiet, picturesque village of Argens Minervois overlooks the banks of the UNESCO Canal du Midi and the river Aude. It has much to offer; a 14th century chateau, 2 restaurants overlooking the canal, bar, 3 wine estates all offering degustations (wine tasting), playground, tennis court, church, Port Occitanie where you can hire a boat, artisan bakery, pottery workshop, olive farm and finally a bakery van visits the village every day at 10:30am (but not Tuesdays). There are some stunning walks from the village around the Lac des Aiguilles and many cycling and hiking routes up into the hills.
You are perfectly situated between the UNESCO site of Carcassonne and the bustling city of Narbonne on the Mediterranean coast. The closest 2 airports are Beziers and Carcassonne. The nearest town is Lézignan-Corbières which has a useful train station and several big supermarkets. Olonzac boasts a weekly market and an established shaded park. Narbonne has a huge, covered food market; Les Halles and a large Brouqant fair (antiques) each month. You can eat fresh oysters at Gruissan and visit its salt farm. There are lots of swimming opportunities in lakes (Homps, Carcassonne), wild swimming in the river Aude and outdoor pools (Lezignan-Corbieres, Periac-Minervois, Carcassonne). The area is rich with history, with many places to explore; cathar castles, abbeys at Lagrasse and Fontfroide, Minerve and Carcassonne.
Various reasons have brought previous guests to Argens-Minervois, which include: attending a family wedding, having a base whilst travelling through Europe, enjoying a family holiday with little ones and grandparents and others looking to explore a new area of France.
If you’d like to purchase wine from one of the village vineyards, that can be arranged. The wine will then be there on your arrival. Bottles of white, rose and red are available.
