LOVE ASTORIA AND THE HAMPTON ON PIER 39
I headed to the coast for a quick weekend with my husband and daughter, and managed to pick the most perfect hotel I could’ve ever picked. It was very serene. We felt like we were the only people there. We had an incredible view from our room. We were right on the river. You could hear the sea lions and the birds, we were able to walk to a local restaurant and coffee shop (coffee girl)on Pier 39. The entire hotel was very clean and very well kept our room as well. We were very comfortable and we will definitely be back! I am slightly picky, and I would only say that the pillows in the room were not super comfortable, but that’s pretty much every hotel and the gentleman who was keeping breakfast stocked had a moment where he used quite a bit of profanity when it appeared that someone had spilled something. I found that slightly odd as there were people, including my family nearby eating breakfast.

Loved this hotel and appreciate it being dog friendly. Suites are large and cozy! Wish the pool was a tad warmer and that there were more vending options, but an amazing place to stay.

Loved the balcony, view of the bridge and river, and watching the grumpy barking sea lions and cormorants fishing. Excellent soundproofing on the balcony door and windows, the sea lion noise was no problem at all with the door shut (the property offers free ear plugs for light sleepers). Great and surprisingly comprehensive breakfast. Free parking. Clean and well maintained. Walkable to restaurants, but it's a longish walk so driving would've been better for dinner, though the Goonies house is just a few blocks away! The riverfront tram runs right in front of the hotel and is a fantastic option for sightseeing and transport, but it stops running in the early evening. Would definitely stay here again.
