Spey Lodge is a mid-century lodge which oozes 60s style and is set in extensive grounds within the precious Rothiemurchus Forest in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park while being a five minute drive from Aviemore. Share the joy of having a holiday with family and friends in a lodge which has been cherished and lovingly maintained by the Fursman family since it was designed and built in 1967. This delightful home from home in a precious Site of Special Scientific Interest is surrounded by nature in The Caledonian pine forest. Be one of the first to see the beavers which have been introduced and are making their homes at the Milton Burn which flows past Spey Lodge as it makes it way to the River Spey. Surrounding the house there is a multitude of nature including much bird life, deer, pine martins and red squirrels. This is a magical spot which is loved by guests who return year after year.
This unique lodge which sleeps 10 and has a octagonal shaped living room with ceiling beams reaching up to a central glass cupola and is set in an elevated position overlooking the forest. An extraordinary living room has kitchen and more formal dining spaces, a well equipped kitchen and seating around the wood-burning stove and a relaxed TV viewing area. Walk onto the south facing veranda and outside seating and dining area surrounding the newly installed hot tub for seven people. While relaxing in the warmth and luxury of the hot tub you can take in the wonders of nature.
There are five individually styled bedrooms which have TVs and ethernet ports for internet use There are two rooms with double beds and three twin rooms. After enjoying a day in the country rejuvenate in a bath or shower in one of the three contemporary bathrooms. Beds are made up for guests and towels are provided. Hand soap and moisturiser are provided in the bathrooms.
The lodge has a wood burning stove. Logs are available to order from us in advance of your stay at Spey Lodge.
Practicalities of being on holiday are served by a drying room, uitlity room with washing machine and tumble dryer. For those with bikes, there is a newly built and insulated storage shed.
There is much to do in the area and Spey Lodge close to many . From the house, there are walks and cycle paths into the Caledonian pine forest to Loch an Mhor (Lily Loch), Loch an Eilien and throughout the Rothiemurchus estate.
Outdoor adventure opportunities are plentiful.

Aviemore village is served by a railway station and national buses to Inverness and to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Aviemore is the shopping hub for the area with supermarkets - Tesco and Aldi and many outdoor equipment shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Up to three well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement however please be aware that the lodge is in the forest so there is not an enclosed garden. No other pets are permitted.
This is not party house - no hen or stag parties are permitted.

Exterior
A hot tub for seven is positioned on a patio with a lovely outlook over the forest.
Recently landscaping work has been undertaken so there is some bare soil which will be grassed in spring 2024.

You are in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park in the Rothiemurchus forest.
Getting there
- From the A9 at Perth drive north; take the Aviemore turn off B9152.
- Turn right onto the B970 at the roundabout before Aviemore; the Taverna restaurant is on the left. This road is signposted to Inverdruie and Coylumbridge.
- At Inverdruie, just before the Rothiemurchus Visitor Centre, turn right and follow the B970; this road is signposted to Loch and Eilein,Insh and Kincraig.
- After 0.7 miles, on a bend in the road just before the Boring Mill bridge and cottage, turn left; this is the driveway to Spey Lodge.
Accessibility
There is a short walk from the parking area into the property. It can be accessed via the slope of the garden rather than the steps.
