French Mediterranean Gem

Welcome to the Mas du Paon Bleu, an authentic 17th century French stone house located a short drive to the Mediterranean sea. Our home is located in the outskirts of a small village but only 8 minutes away by train to France's charming city of Montpellier. Start your morning by walking or cycling on a country road surrounded by vineyards to our award winning bakery. Spend the day swimming at the pool or go to one of the many nearby sandy beaches. An outdoor kitchen allows you to have dinner outside by the pool. Feel like cooking? Explore one of the many weekly markets or gather some fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden. Ready to explore the area? Montpellier is a vibrant city with excellent restaurants and night life. The property is located in France's largest and one of its oldest wine growing regions with many nearby wineries open to visitors. For those interested in exploring further, you will be within 90 minutes of Aix en Provence, Marseille, Carcassone. In closer proximity you will find Nîmes, Avignon, Sete, Aigues Morte, Uzès, Arles, Beziers, Isle sur la Sorgue. More of a nature person? The Cevennes mountains and the Ardeche mountains are within a 30 min drive. Excellent kayaking nearby at Gorge d’Herault, hiking at Pic St Loup or along one of the nearby Etangs. The area's best golf course and spa is within a 10 min drive.

The property: Our 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom home began its journey over 400 years ago, pre-dates the French revolution, and has been meticulously cared for ever since. It is well furnished with authentic French antiques. You will find a fully equipped kitchen with a gas range and two long farm tables. The dining room sits six. A large living room opens up to the beautiful stone courtyard on one side and to a path that leads you to the pool, the vegetable garden or the fruit orchard are just beyond. Join the locals at the Petanque court, a soccer field is in close proximity to the house.

The property is located in a protected an agricultural zone, most of which are vineyards. There is a fast speed train line that goes by, most people do not hear it at all given its speed, but you may hear it for 1-2 seconds when the train passes during the daytime. Our resident peacock, may greet you outside the front door. He is harmless and very social. Do not chase and do not feed him.

Markets: You will find several weekly markets with a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, cheese in neighboring towns of Baillargues, Mudaison, Mauguio or Lunel. During the summer there are several night markets as well.

Access: The house is approximately a 5-8 minute drive to the Baillargues train station, where you can park and take the train to nearby places such as Montpellier and take advNtage of France's well developed train system. There are two TGV train stations serving Montpellier, making travel to Lyon, Paris and many other destinations convenient. We are approximately 15 minutes from the Montpellier airport. Other nearby airports are Nimes (30 min away), Beziers (40 minutes) or Marseille (90 min away).
