Enjoy a wilderness experience with all the comforts of home. We are located on Vanluven Lake, on the outskirts of Bancroft (5 minutes to town), surrounded by countless lakes, trails and just one hour south of Algonquin Provincial Park.
We are situated in the middle of 3 acres of mature forest with 100' of natural shoreline on a small (private access only) lake.
A short walk through groomed trails leads you from the guesthouse down to the lake. A 36' long boardwalk leads you to a floating 8'x16' dock, perfect for relaxing on the lake. Guests have use of a canoe, paddle boards and kayaks (life jackets available for guest use). We have a beach volleyball court for you to enjoy and a choice of two campfire pits - one down by the lake and one nestled in the trees closer to the guesthouse. After a long day of fishing, riding the trails, site seeing or visiting one of the many Provincial Parks close by, we are are great place to return from your adventure for a little R&R.
In winter, we are a great home base for your long awaited snowmobile adventure. Just a minute down the road is access to the Hastings Heritage Trail. We do our best to maintain an ice rink on the lake in winter, but the lake is usually great for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. You can enjoy a campfire down here (year round) and enjoy the sights and sounds of life by the lake.
We have free parking right on site (visible from the guesthouse). No long hikes from your car to the house.
The guesthouse has two spacious bedrooms on the second floor with a 3 piece en-suite in each. Each bedroom can sleep up to 4 people (2 adults & 2 children) in one queen bed and one queen sofa bed. On the main floor is a living area and a full size, eat in kitchen. Your breakfast is included in in your stay at Cedarhaus. We stock your pantry with a generous amount of breakfast foods for you to prepare and eat when ever you decide. A generous selection of coffee and tea is also available to you. We have two decks (connected by a boardwalk) for you to enjoy. The larger of the two also has a BBQ and picnic table for guest use. The whole place is creatively decorated (a bit modern, a bit industrial and a bit rustic) with vintage outdoor and sporting equipment.
The guesthouse does share a 12'x12' breezeway with our home - it's our common entry. When you are here we try to be as invisible as you would like us to be.
We aim to provide our guests with a peaceful and relaxing experience while staying with us. We also have year round residents within earshot of us and insist on respectable noise levels during the day but especially after 10:00PM.
