Tastefully decorated throughout, you have the charm of being a quaint characterful cottage with all of the expectations of modern living. On the ground floor is the well equipped kitchen, which is open plan with the dining area. The cosy and inviting living area has a leather sofa to unwind on in front of the large smart TV. French doors lead into the totally private and enclosed courtyard which catches the sun in the afternoons, making this a peaceful and enjoyable outside space to enjoy meals al fresco. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master bedroom with a kingsize bed and the second bedroom with a small double as well as a single bed, ideal for couples and small families. The family bathroom is perfect to end each day with a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower.
Raven Cottage is ideally situated for walkers and cyclists wishing to explore the beautiful countryside of Teesdale, or for those seeking a more leisurely stay in one of the most historic and scenic towns in the region. Barnard Castle is a market town in Teesdale, on the site of a Roman ford which crosses the river. The ruins of the medieval castle and cobble streets, yards and back lanes are well worth seeing. From the town there is excellent walking with the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, River Tees and the waterfalls at High Force all nearby.
Barnard Castle is known as the Gateway to Teesdale in the dramatic and inspiring valley of the turbulent River Tees. the traditional market town is full of character, combined with the buzz of an eclectic collection of designer clothes and interiors shops, cafes and restaurants. The jewel in the crown must be the Bowes Museum, built in the style of a French chateau and housing an internationally-acclaimed collection of European fine arts, ceramics and paintings. Not to be missed is the silver life-sized swan at the Bowes Museum, this mechanical masterpiece is incredibly lifelike and it actually moves as it preens its feathers on a shimmering metallic pool. Other attractions include Auckland Castle, Raby Castle, High Force Waterfall, The Forbidden Corner at Leyburn, Duncombe Park, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, which can all be reached in under an hour.
