Bach11 at beautiful Onaero Bay, so close to New Plymouth ...

Onaero Bay is just a short 25 minutes north of New Plymouth on State Highway 3. Close enough to have a relaxing weekend away and feel like you've come back totally relaxed and renewed.

Our kiwi bach is on the Onaero Domain and borders the estuary of the Onaero River which is not only safe for swimming but has its own private boat jetty to launch the kayaks as well as a whitebait net (in season). We have two kayaks which you are welcome to use (please use the lifejackets supplied).
The bach is comfortable and roomy enough for a family or just a couple wanting time out. The area is very sheltered but for the cooler days there is a wood fire.
There is a master bedroom with a queen bed plus a bunk room which has a double bed, a set of bunks with a double on the bottom and a single on the top and a sofa bed. There is also a rollaway bed, a portacot and a highchair. The fee is for the first two people and any others are an extra $40/night per person.
Almost everything is supplied, including linen (if you use ours) and basic pantry items. There is one spare toilet roll. Just bring what you need for your stay. Enjoy!

The Onaero Beach is a very safe beach and close by; perfect for swimming, surfing and fishing.
There is a boat ramp five minutes drive away and also close by you will find a nice cafe and shopping available at Urenui Superette along with a tavern and fuel requirements. Urenui also has a 9-hole golf course.

New Plymouth boasts many fine attractions including beautiful Pukekura Park, the Bowl of Brooklands where many famous artists have entertained, the Coastal Walkway and Wind Wand, along with Govett Brewster Art Gallery and Pukeariki Museum. Mt Taranaki/Egmont is also not far away for those wanting to explore the bush walks.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
1. Due to other baches close by, no excess noise, events or parties will be tolerated. 2. While we realise that many of our guests own electric vehicles we do not contribute to fuel for those who don’t so appreciate your donation towards electricity.
3. Minimum stay requirements apply during peak times. All linen including sheets, towels, pillowcases, tea towels, duvets etc is available. There is some complimentary laundry powder. Please pop anything used through the washing machine before you leave. You are of course welcome to bring your own sheets and towels and many of our guests do this.

The bach must be left clean and tidy ready for the next guests to enjoy ie. vacuumed and the shower, toilet and kitchen cleaned.

EXTRAS: To assist with excess electricity usage by EVs to recharge, a donation to the honesty box is appreciated . NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house including floors, toilet and shower and do the dishes leaving the Bach as you found it. Cleaning product is available. Your respect of our property is appreciated. Please take any supplies you need for your stay including dishwash & toilet rolls. 01/04/2024 EDIT: With new GST regulations effective 1st April 2024 which will unfortunately be payable by our guests we have chosen to reduce our pricing and appreciate you selecting Bach11 for your next holiday break.

Beautiful spot. arrival marred by having to clean and wash all dishes which had been put away dirty. Ant problem in bathroom and spider webs throughout, resulting in a nasty bite to leg of a guest which meant a trip to Waitara for medical advice. Layout of batch was great with pretty views.

Overall very comfortable
The owners are friendly and quick to respond. The house is cosy, and our whole family enjoyed our stay. We really liked the comforts of home, including the TV, and also really appreciated using the kayaks and fishing rods. My sons were fishing most of the time! Just a couple of little things we have for suggestion: the beds were not made, however, we had access to linen to make them up ourselves. It was useful having the washing machine and dryer, however maybe the dryer needs to be moved outside, or a vent put in so it doesn't make the house feel damp. Overall, I recommend this bach - great spot!

Bach11 had everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday with the kids. Plenty of room indoors and out, we most enjoyed the fishing from the wharf, relaxing with books and games on the rainy days and our visit to the Three Sisters.

Lovely bach which is in the most beautiful setting, on a domain with other wee baches, set right back from the road so it's utterly peaceful and relaxing. The beds were super cosy and there was an enormous range of bedding to make ourselves at home with. The sofas were incredibly comfy, and the kitchen was super-well equipped.

Great venue for family.
Clean, neat, fresh and well thought-out. Comfortable & pleasant allowing a relaxing and stress-free experience. We inadvertantly left a large glass fluted bowl with fitted plastic lid, which I am keen to have returned. I am willing to pay the postage. Please advise. Cheers, Kathie

Whānau Time Visiting Urenui
IF your looking for a comfortable “summer batch” feeling to your stay then you will definitely get this from the house. The large private deck @ the back has beautiful Aotearoa bush & water views. The singing birds, ducks & splashing fish make it that extra bit welcoming. The handy BBQ & Outdoor Furniture while the kids kayaked became a daily brunch ritual. There is plenty of parking, seating & sleeping space the beds were cosy and everything in the house functioned as it should. We had local Urenui family over for dinner and there was plenty of cutlery & plates to cater without having to race out and buy plastic. The place was easy to keep clean & tidy - We appreciated the simplicity it gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy our holiday. The neighbouring homes in the park area were friendly and quiet. Will definitely visit again - I have a mokopuna on the way so am grateful to have had somewhere lovely to spend time with them in Urenui. Thank You Kereama, Joy & Tawhara

A wonderful property - clean, well equipped and suits all occasions and weather. The only downside is the rowdy traffic, especially large trucks, climbing up the hills. I fully recommend this property and the managers are amazing.

Very cold place.ie winter and a tiny few tiny heaters no electric blankets on beds.unclean.rusted dangerous looking outdoor dinner table.ramp to stream very old. Dodgy. Small step into kidds bedroom with no warning of danger. This property seems to have no cleaner or basics. Last minute email from owners saying bring your linen or pay to use it, or wash it in the am and leave on line if sunny . No mention they had a drier or I would have used there linen.little loo paper dish washing liquid or cleaning gear. No milk etc .I have stayed in book a batches enough and not had this bad a time before.last min email to also say little cell cover or wifi. Maybe I overlooked it in the glossy add .spacious kitchen. And nice large living room.
