Orchard House is a beautifully renovated home with relaxing views over the gorge, an enviable edible garden and it is conveniently located amongst all that Beechworth has to offer.
The site was established in 1858 as the Oriental Hotel, Newtown. The hotel was a coach stop with cellars and stables located at the back. It remained a hotel until the1950s when it was converted into a residence.
In the last 5 years an edible garden has been lovingly planted at Orchard House. You can enjoy seasonal fruits plucked straight from the tree including plums, feijoas, guavas, pears, apples, nashis, apricots, peaches, nectarines, quinces, persimmons, and pomegranates. The garden also offers a range of fresh herbs, rhubarb, and strawberries. Coupled with what you can source from the garden, the fully equipped kitchen and butlers pantry are ideal to add a little extra to your vacation meals.
Orchard House offers comfortable accommodation for couples, families, or groups of up to 8 people with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Bedroom one has a queen bed with an ensuite, bedroom two offers a queen bed, and bedroom three has two king-single bunks with a half-bath attached. A portacot and highchair are available on request.
A ducted split system ensures the house is cosy and warm in winter and cool in summer and there is a collection of books, magazines, and board games to help you enjoy your stay.
Whilst staying at Orchard House you will have access to a double lock up garage along with a fully enclosed, secure and private backyard that provides ample, safe storage for those with classic cars, motorbikes, bikes, scooters, kayaks etc.
Orchard House is located within steps of the Beechworth Gorge Lookout, the Newtown Gym and two peaceful cafes. It is a leisurely walk to the main street for restaurants and more cafes, wine bars, boutique shopping and all that Beechworth has to offer.
For those who wish to be a little more active Orchard House is also ideally positioned for scenic walks and bike rides around the Beechworth Gorge. The Beechworth Rotary Wetlands Trail begins across the road and leads through the Chinese Gardens to Lake Sambell. There is also has easy access to The Rail Trail close by.
