There was no vip treatment at all. Check in we had to wait till 2.38 to get room instead of 3 pm although we arrived at 11.15 am and we asked if possible to get room earlier. Upon arrival i asked to check out at 3 pm if possible was told they will put a note but i have to check the next day.the next day was told to check the day of departure and finally was told this was not possible. Didnā€™t see any vip treatment. Hotel is wonderful, personnel is experienced but it depends to whom you will have the luck to talk to. They are all very polite but some are quite tired and it shows. Especially at concierge where the head concierge is amazing , some others leave much to be desired.

This was my first stay at the Adlon Kempinski in Berlin, the hotel location is excellent, close to many attractions and the hotel staff were incredibly helpful, I would say without reservation this is the best hotel I've stayed at anywhere in the world, I highly recommend it and look forward to my next stay.

We moved from Berlin to Vienna (Ritz Carlton) and you could not even start to compare Ritz Carlton to Adlon Kempinski. Itā€™s like moving from luxury hotel environment to Holiday Inn. The property needs a guest room renovation. Our room had a very worn chair with black wear marks on the arms. The shower, with the door closed, flooded the bathroom floor, every time you showered. The room controls were only in German. As the premier hotel in Berlin with a famous reputation that gets lots of international guests, I wouldā€™ve expected the switches to have symbols understood by someone who doesnā€™t speak German. The thermostat was locked to a maximum 22 degrees. The staff were very friendly but service was spotty. The front desk forgot to give the Bellman our luggage tags so we had to phone for our luggage on arrival. The service in the brasserie was generally poor although the staff were always very friendly. We had to flag down staff to have orders taken and pay in the end. The person delivering the starters didnā€™t know who had what, and when the main courses arrived one was not ours, and the second one was not prepared as requested. We assume that the person picked up the wrong order in the kitchen because they corrected the issue quickly. The staff were either under trained or the restaurant understaffed. The person checking us out was very responsive and took note of what I had to say after she asked about our stay. She was the most interested staff member. If there had only been one thing, I would not say anything, but the combination of issues, albeit none of them large, is concerning given the Adlonā€™s reputation. Disappointing stay.

Receptionist forgot to pass down our room number to the bellhop. The room phone was also not working, so after waiting for an hour, I had to go down to look for our luggage. 2nd day morning, I found my phone was not charged because the outlet was not working (hence the room phone). The staff were helpful and fixed the issue quickly. But two incidents in a row are not what I expected from a kempinski.

Perfect location
Steps from the historic Brandenburg gate, the Adlon hotel has impeccable service. The rooms are spacious and clean, but do need a bit of updating. The Brasserie offers a great place to grab a bite, people watch or enjoy a nice cold drink. Will definitely come back here.
