Bwthyn Angell is in the picturesque Penmachno valley in Eryri (Snowdonia). A cosy, semi detached former miner's cottage situated in scenic, secluded surroundings ideally located to explore the National Park. The cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The slate floored sitting room is warmed by a wood-burner set in a stone fireplace, while the large kitchen with dining area benefits from a high ceiling giving a feeling of spaciousness. Doors from the dining area lead out onto the patio seating area at the rear of the cottage where you can sit and relax after a day out walking in the surrounding hills. High speed fibre optic broadband makes it possible to work from the property. The countryside around Bwthyn Angell is magnificent, with stunning country scenery, occasional waterfalls, and slate quarries to explore within walking distance. Within easy reach of the cottage is the popular Penmachno Mountain Bike trail and the Gwydir Forest Park for walking and mountain biking (Marin trail), the outdoor pursuits centre of Betws-y-Coed and all of the delights of the Snowdonia National Park including rock climbing, Zip World zip wires and Bpunce Below at Bethesda and Blaenau and the Forest Coaster in Betws Y Coed, hill walking, the Tree Tops Adventure High Ropes Course, Go Below mine exploration, Surf Snowdonia. Antur Stiniog bike park (with its uplift service) and Coed y Brenin are also close by. Slightly further afield are the towns of Beddgelert and Llanberis, with the possibility to climb Snowdon or ride the Snowdon Mountain Railway. and the beaches of Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog, Barmouth, Harlech and Criccieth. Bwthyn Angell is a home from home for all the family providing a comfortable base for you to return to at any time of year. The house in heated by gas central heating in addition to the log fire.
Accommodation
The front door leads into a comfortable lounge with two sofas and an armchair (seating six) Smart TV, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, broadband router and stone fireplace with wood burning stove. And in the corner, a small games cupboard and modest book and DVD collection for the occasional damp(!) day.
To the rear of the lounge is a small lobby leading to the back door and down-stair bathroom, with shower, basin and WC.
To the side of the lounge is the spacious kitchen diner. The kitchen features a cooker, hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, cafetiere, Nespresso machine (regular pods - please bring your own), toaster and kettle. There is also a useful range of pots, pans, crockery and utensils. The diner has a table seating six plus a highchair, and an armchair for some quiet reading time away from the TV. There is a large map showing local walks and the area's topography.
Stairs, with stair-gates, lead to the first floor main bedroom featuring double bed, wardrobe and views of the hills and occasional waterfall (subject to rain!) to the front of the property; the bunk-room with 3ft wide bunk beds, wardrobe and views of the hills and waterfall to the rear of the property; and the main bathroom with bath / shower over, basin and WC.
Stairs from the first floor landing take you to the cosy second floor bedroom, with two single beds, small wardrobe and views of the hills and waterfall to the rear of the property.

*Importantly, the property has integrated fire alarms and two fire extinguishers, along with a fire-blanket adjacent to the cooker. There are 30 minute fire doors on all bedrooms, with smoke seals and automatic closers for your safety.
Smart TV, DVD, CD/radio/iPod dock, WiFi and telephone. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Wood for stove (no coal please): One bag supplied, more available to purchase in Betws-y-Coed. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. There is LPG central heating and a woodburning stove in the sitting room. The wood burner has HETAS certification, and there are two Carbon Monoxide alarms.
Usual check-in days are Friday and Monday. Short breaks are welcomed. For any other check -in day please contact owner.

Off and on road road parking. Cycle storage. Slate patio with picnic table. Well-behaved dogs welcome (note there are sheep, cattle and horses in the fields adjacent to the property) but kept downstairs only please. Whilst we have tried to secure the garden for pets, we cannot guarantee that pets cannot escape.
Sorry, no smoking inside the cottage.
