In addition, we can offer private tours that can be designed according to your specific interests. Our knowledge of the local cuisine can help point you in the right direction to the best restaurants and bakeries with locally sourced ingredients.

Our home is full of history including many period furnishings but with all the modern conveniences. We want you to be able to experience the history of what makes this region so famous and at the same time feel the comfort and coziness of returning each night to your own special place.

As our guest, you will enjoy top-quality amenities to help make life easy as you savor a home-cooked meal from our fully equipped kitchen or just relax with friends and family and relive your adventures of the day. Let this place be a memory that you will relive for years to come and possibly return to again like so many of our guests.

Nestled in the tiny hillside village of Beynac, La Petite Maison invokes a timeless sense of charm and beauty. Catch a glimpse of medieval life in this 500-year-old home and explore the most scenic and breathtaking villages of Southwest France.

Unlike many homes listed under Beynac in the VRBO directory, La Petite Maison enjoys a central location within the actual village and is one of the most picturesque homes in Beynac. Situated on a cobbled footpath leading to the Chateau, your medieval adventure awaits. Step inside into a quiet retreat and enjoy the charm of its thick stone walls and heavy chestnut timbers.

Amenities include:
• Central village setting just steps away from the bakery, grocery store, restaurants, ATM, post office, galleries, hairdresser, doctor and pharmacy
• Two romantic master bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, one with a four-poster colonial bed, the other in the style of Louis XV
• Air conditioning, a rarity in most vacation rentals in southwest France
• Fully modern bathrooms fitted with spa shower cabins, perfect for helping you relax after a busy day of sightseeing
• Fully equipped kitchen to make dining in easy and stress-free
• High ceilings with large chestnut wood beams in the living/dining room and comfortable seating with leather sofa and club chair
• Massive stone fireplace with stove insert and antique copper accents

La Petite Maison is perfect for couples and small families. With two master bedrooms, it sleeps 4 very comfortably but may also sleep 1 additional guest in a single bed in the upstairs bedroom.

No one will have to draw straws for the kid’s bedroom because this cottage has two full-sized master suites each with its own private ensuite bathroom. A common living area with the sitting room and dining area separates the bedrooms above and below. The living room boasts a massive stone fireplace, antique copper, and leather furniture, which accentuate the comfort and enjoyment of staying in your own place.

In the upstairs bath, you will find a fully modern step-down bathroom fitted with handmade Italian tiles, a relaxing shower cabin, vanity, and a Napoleon III armoire. The downstairs bathroom is fitted with a luxury spa shower featuring 8 shower heads, an extra-large sink, heated towel warmers, and beautiful Italian marble tile.

The village of Beynac consists of a cluster of golden-stone houses beneath a dramatic 500-foot cliff. Perched at the top stands the 12th century Chateau Beynac, rising from the sheer cliff face along the most historic and scenic section of the Dordogne River. With its formidable Chateau, rows of charming houses, and the gentle river below, the setting is simply captivating. La Petite Maison makes for an ideal home base for visiting all the picturesque villages in the Perigord Noir, including Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud, Monpazier, and Sarlat just to name a few.

Beynac Castle is renowned for being one of the best-preserved medieval castles in France. It was painstakingly restored last century using only the tools of the medieval craftsman. From the castle terrace, the chateaux of Marqueyssac, Fayrac, and Castelnaud are all within view across the verdant tapestry of this beautiful valley.

Nowhere have we found a more tranquil, beautiful, and romantic setting than here in the Dordogne. Whether you are exploring fairy tale castles, strolling a local market, wandering through cobblestone streets, studying prehistoric cave art, or simply taking in the unspoiled countryside, you will come to understand why this is one of the most endearing regions in all of Europe. Designated by the French government as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Beynac never fails to impress.

Charming Slice of History
La Petite Maison is a comfortable, well-equipped cottage located in a charming village. As described, there are two master bedrooms with ensuites, one of which is located on the top floor and the other on the bottom floor (i.e., two floors apart). We were two couples so this was ideal; however, I would caution that there are fairly steep, slippery staircases to access the bedrooms, which could prove problematic for anyone with mobility issues. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped for a holiday rental (one of the best we’ve stayed in). There is an American-style drip coffee makers but one recommendation would be to include a French coffee press. The village itself is small and quiet and ideally situated for exploring the area. All-in-all a lovely stay!

The Magical Le Petite Maison
I saw a picture of Le Petite Maison 8 years ago and loved it. I have painted it several times. When my brother was on hospice a photo of the house came up on my phone. And I promised him I would go. It was spiritual and magical at the same time🌹. Wonderful village and people.

La Petite Maison is fantastic!
The house is tucked into the hillside in the perfect location to launch your adventures in the Périgord region. The village is wonderful to wander through and was not far from many other sites and activities and we wanted to see. One of our favorite activities was relaxing in the evening on the little patio with a nice white wine or rosé at the end of the day

We absolutely loved our stay at La Petite Maison. The house is very well appointed and is ideally situated for exploring not only the beautiful village of Beynac but also the surrounding area. Vincent goes above and beyond and Martine was a delight to meet. We would happily recommend a stay here and thoroughly look forward to returning one day soon.

Fantastic stay in Beynac
This is just a lovely property! Such character! Beynac is a lovely picturesque town and conveniently located to lots of sites. Owner has left very detailed instructions and suggestions for things to do. Also the welcome basket was very much appreciated the first morning! Parking is just a few minutes walk, and was convenient. Small grocery store, bakery, butcher, and restaurants all withing walking distance. AC, washer/dryer, dishwasher all appreciated. We ate outside on the little front porch and enjoyed music from the neighboring restaurant. Also met owner walking by as we ate dinner! Property manager very helpful. All in all a lovely stay, and highly recommended.

Lovely stay in 500 yro house
The house is charming and surprisingly updated, with things such as a combo stovetop, oven and dishwasher. The village is really cute and is a perfect base to drive through Dordogne. Communication with the owners was very straightforward, and the check in process was relatively easy with their housekeeper (though she only speaks French, so be prepared for that). Although the house worked really well for us, and we would gladly stay there again, I would warn people that the walk up to the house is a little steep, and there are tight, spiral stairs in the house that would make it difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There is a lovely outside area that would be perfect for sitting out and watching people go by, when the weather is nice. For us, though, the weather was rainy and cool, so after a day of touring around, we loved coming back to such a cozy house with a comfy living room. Would gladly recommend this to anyone who does not have mobility issues.

Charming!
We loved our wonderful stay in Beynac at La Petite Maison! Both the village and the house (and the whole area!) were utterly charming! And we appreciated the most generous welcome basket we have ever seen! We arrived quite late, and everything was closed, so we devoured a lot of it as our dinner. The whole area around Beynac is filled with gorgeous scenery, medieval castles and villages, gardens and stunning views of the Dordogne River. The cobblestone path to the Beynac Castle is a steep uphill climb, but worth it! The house itself also requires steep climbing up narrow steps from the living area to the bedrooms…also worth it! We enjoyed many meals on the terrace, and we could see the envy in the eyes of people walking by us! This was the first time that we ever saw a stove, oven and DISHWASHER all in one! The oven and dishwasher are half-sized, but they worked fine for us. Staying in this medieval home was just great!

Adorable Favorite Cottage
La Petite Maison My favorite stay in the south of France. What a charming cottage in a quaint village. Everything as pictured & more. It’s a fairytale cottage to stay in. Perfect location. Everything you need with beautiful furniture, fabulous kitchen. Beds so comfy & beautiful. Love the windows especially the one in the kitchen that opens to the private patio. Highlight to sit on the patio eat & enjoy the visitors passing by to & from the Castle. Everyone loves the corner cottage. The town is so beautiful & welcoming with lots to explore. We enjoyed everything about Beynac. The castle is fabulous & the journey along the way with shops & restaurants. We took a canoe down the river my first & so fun. Next time I’ll bring a picnic as you can stop along the way. Vincent is excellent in communication super nice & helpful. With an amazing welcoming basket from the local market. All information about the stay in the cottage is emailed & manual that is very detailed & so helpful. Martine the housekeeper beyond Superb. Sweet warm hearted & thoughtful. We saw her many times during our stay. Always with a smile & hard working that girl. Christoph Taxi service recommend by Vincent the best ever taxi service I’ve e had. I highly recommend he is quick to respond, super friendly, kind heart & welcoming. He has many suggestions & covers a large area also with tours. If not available he has many other referrals. But you’ll want him first if available every time. Eric & family at the local market is another gem. I didn’t want to leave I loved it here so much. Hope to make this my Summer vaca every year. Thanks for letting us stay in your magical home. Merci Beaucoup Vincent

Vive La Petite Maison!
La Petite Maison is a unique stone home nestled in a medieval village. The home is well maintained and contains gorgeous furniture, modern amenities, and is conveniently located to bistros, restaurants and grocery stores. After a day spent walking on cobblestone pathways, relax on a small, pleasant terrace and sip a glass of local wine. Experiment with speaking French. The French are very friendly and helpful. Lastly, enjoy! This place is great!

Perfect, cozy home in a charming little village
The village is quaint and the people were all very sweet. The house was perfect. Vincent was kind enough to equip us with some firewood as it is quite chilly in December. Sarlat was an easy drive away and had a beautiful little Christmas market. We loved our stay in Beynac-et-Cazenac and if we return to this area again, we will definitely stay in Vincent's home. We very much enjoyed our time at La Petite Maison. It's a super nice house in the center of the village. Clean, comfortable, and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the warm fireplace in the evenings. Beynac and the surrounding Dordogne region is so full of character and history. It was well worth the drive from Paris to get there. Thank you to Vincent, Andrea, & Martine for a wonderful visit!

Great location and property!
This is a really incredible property. We enjoyed the modern amenities inside (nice kitchen, cooking appliances, dishwasher, fireplace, showers, bathrooms, internet, etc). The walk up to the castle is steep and short. Everything was great. Martine checked in on us each day to see if we had everything as well as met us to explain (in French) the property. I speak some French so I got the gist of what was needed. The only thing is we had a little difficulty with was finding firewood; we ended up getting some during our day trip to Sarlat though. Thanks for letting us stay!

Enjoyable Two-Week Stay
We feel very lucky to have found this property as it was the ideal home base for our exploration of this area of France. The town itself is full of history with many breathtaking views and excellent restaurants (we followed up on the owners detailed recommendations for dining and were never disappointed) , and very central for driving about in other areas. The house itself has all the modern conveniences carefully appointed to remain in keeping with its historic nature. Loved the beams in the ceilings and the stone walls. As it was just two of us staying, we didn't need to use the upstairs bedroom (and it was also quite hot up there due to the heat wave the area was experiencing). But we lived fully on the main floor and downstairs bedroom/bath very comfortably. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We especially enjoyed the peace of the village in the morning with all the windows open, walks on the river at that time, and coming back with a croissant or two. We also had no trouble at all cooking in when we wanted to cut back on dining out. All of the detailed suggestions left for renters were fabulous (outdoor markets are a must!) and our only regret is that we didn't get to do everything on the list! Thank you for sharing your lovely home, Vince!

Become part of the Medieval Dordogne valley
This gem in the lovely, medieval town of Beynac-et-Cazenac was exactly what we were looking for during our time in the Dordogne. We visited with a 10-month-old and a 3-year-old and four adults. It looks just like the pictures! Everything in this town looks medieval, so it was so perfect to stay in this stone house along the steep, winding cobbled road up to the castle (which was an awesome castle and stays open until 7pm). The house is three floors with the entrance on the middle floor (opening onto the upper street on the right side of the house in the picture). Each flight of stairs had a gate or a door at the top to keep the kids from taking a tumble. The house is carefully maintained and well furnished with a bathroom included in each bedroom (no door separating bathroom from bedroom). It was very clean and inviting with a welcome basket including milk and fresh strawberries, cereal, coffee and cookies, and more. The full kitchen was equipped with dishes and coffee maker and more – everything we needed to do breakfasts at home. Although the bakery just around the corner was too tempting with its chocolate croissants every morning! Check-in with English-speaking Andrea, was very easy. She showed us around, gave us the keys and was easily accessible by texting while we were there. Parking was in the small main city lot right by the river, about a minute or two away by foot. It definitely filled up during the day but we could always find parking in the evenings. There are more lots farther away as well. We did have to pay for parking some days but it wasn't too expensive. La Petite Maison was an excellent location from which to see the Dordogne River Valley. We walked to Castelenaud (3 miles away) which has an amazing medieval weapons collection. We visited Sarlat, Roque St. Christof, the gardens at Marquesyssac and drove through Le Roque Gageac. Traffic was not bad in early May when we were there. Too much to see! We will have to return to La Petite Maison. Definitely our favorite stay on this trip.

Best wine region
We totally enjoyed our stay in Beynac. The restaurants were wonderful. The views amazing. So many things to see wandering about. Lots to do in the area. Balloon rides, canoeing, exploring the castles, side streets. The market was so quaint. (Totally disappoint that it was only there once a week. I really wanted to buy more local wine). People were so friendly throughout the Village. The bakery amazing. Weather was beautiful. I love Beynac-et-Cazenac. The only thing I’d change is that spoiled as we are in North America, I would have killed for a king size bed.
