Property is run down. Had one window pane missing covered by a sign that said "do not open window". Carpet was stained. Staff were ok. Location was ok.

This is a great old place and is obviously tired in places but if you want a good nights sleep then don’t choose a hotel on the main square Lots of noise and light No breakfast service dispute being on the booking ?? Only informed upon arrival

A very basic and run-down hotel sorry. Felt like it was not really catering for hotel customers tbh - a very run down room.

Hotel awaiting a major fire.
Externally the render and paintwork was cracked, blown or missing, the wooden sash windows were propped open with waste paper baskets, bottles of water and toilet rolls. Pot holes at car park entrance in unlit alleyway. Inside the building things really went down hill, kitchen had been recently shut without notice, small bar area for locals used to double up as reception desk. Stairwell and passage carpets smelling of stale dust with huge old cobwebs present in most areas. The room on the 2nd floor had no water pressure for a shower, no hot water in the sink (I had to boil the kettle for a shave and quick sink wash), massive crack in the ceiling, very noisy night times being unable to close the windows properly. Overhearing other guests queuing to complain to reception about the conditions, I asked a staff member if the building was under new ownership awaiting a major fire for the insurance. The building is so neglected throughout that even a £500,000 refurbishment wouldn’t cover the work required.

Tired hotel
A very tired hotel. Room had a broken window, peeling paint and bar was out of draft beer and closed early. Fortunately room was clean if dated. Needs a big makeover.

After we checked in the guys on reception kindly carried our heavy cases to the top of the building, room 17 is up a narrow staircase. The building is very old. The room slopes in many directions but was spacious with a super-king bed, the bathroom was also very large but it was impossible to stand in the bath/shower as it was under a sloping roof. Our pillows had no pillow protectors & were heavily stained a foul yellow colour from sweat. The bed didn’t have a mattress protector either. We showed the guys on reception our unsavoury pillows & asked for new pillows or at least pillows that were clean - they didn’t have any so they gave us extra pillow cases. As the town was booked out we had no choice but to go with this. It really is totally unacceptable to have such low standards of cleanliness, this hotel really needs to lift its game. Would we stay again - NO!!!

This small town inn is rather run down. We can only comment fully on our room. The room was on the second floor and was spacious and airy - unfortunately it is in need of repair to the point of possible being unsafe. The window frames are rotten, that in the bathroom having lost its bottom right corner. All the windows can be opened fully to an extent that is dangerous for children and the sashes are broken - so the windows do not stay open unless propped. The tiles on the bathroom floor are broken and loose and my wife hurt her foot on some broken edges. We complained about this and the hotel effected a minimal repair of the worst area - though many more tiles were loose. In general the room was grubby, though to be fair it is so large and the general condition with broken skirtings and redundant, former central heating pipes would make a thorough cleaning difficult. There is a hatch in the bathroom ceiling the wooden surround of which is brown with dirt. The exterior of the property is very tatty. The window frames are in sadly need of attention and there is unfinished demolition work in the car park at the rear. I am sorry to be so critical but our room in this hotel was over £100 a night which made it poor value for money. The public areas were cleaner and smart and the general decrepitude of the building was not so evident. An additional issue was that our daughters camp bed had a duvet without a cover.

Booked for the lads for working away. They were disappointed with the cleanliness. Pubes in the bedding and in the bathroom. They have asked me not to book this one ever again.

Don’t waste your money
So disappointed. The photos and description make you think you’re staying at a quaint little village coach house. Wow. So run down and tired. Bed was so noisy with creaks that I couldn’t move without waking up the whole hotel. It’s wasn’t clean. Plug sockets hanging off the walls. Shower was a sprinkle at best. It was like a ghost town. Not one single person seen apart from the receptionist/watchman for the whole stay. Eerily quiet. Not one single good thing to say about it. I could have stayed in. Premier Inn and saved myself the extra £50. Didn’t even stay for breakfast.

Nice enough place and reasonably priced
Nice enough place and was fine for one night. Customer service and welcome could have been a bit friendlier as it didn’t feel like I was welcomed. Nice furniature in the room to go with the building and comfy bed but work needs to be done to the room. My room had very bad TV reception, a broken window letting a bad draft in and a leaking tap. Things like power switches needed fixing and a better clean of smaller areas would make the place much nicer as there were stains on the floor. Still worth it for one night and well situated in the town. Very reasonable for the price
