Rowan Cottage is the 1st cottage in a row of four in the tranquil village of Wanlockhead. Wanlockhead is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, nestling in the Lowther Hills and 1 mile south of Leadhills at the head of the Mennock Pass, which forms part of the Southern Uplands. It is Scotland's highest village, at an elevation of around 1531ft, and can be accessed via the B797, which connects it to the A76 near Sanquhar and the A74(M) motorway at Abington. This former lead mining settlement still acknowledges the former glory of the mining days and retains some of the history in and around the local Lead Mining Museum. The scenery, when either walking, cycling or driving in and around the village is some of the most dramatic and beautiful in the Scotland. Quite surprising is that the location of the cottage is less than eight miles from Abington Services on the M74 Motorway.
Inside the cottage there is a comfortable and cosy space which provides the ideal home away from home. A living room with log burner, Smart TV and dining table is on the ground floor. Within the kitchen, also on the ground floor, there is all you would need to prepare meals after a day’s exploring and enjoying your surroundings. On the ground floor the bedroom sleeps two in a double room, the pine open plan staircase leads off the living room to the upstairs bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 single bedroom . The bathroom with walk-in jet shower is downstairs and the back door leads out onto outside area where you can sit and relax.
Wanlockhead is set in a rural location yet is only 7 miles from the M74 and only less than an hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Ayr.
