Fall Break 2023
The house was perfect and had everything we needed for an enjoyable week. The views were amazing especially from the master bedroom. With the privacy location, you could wake up each morning and watch the sun come up from over the mountains while still relaxing in bed. The kitchen was fully equipped and had plenty of space and seating. The under counter ice maker was an appreciated bonus.

Really good stay. House meets expectations online. A couple FYIs, the house has a bit of a sketchy driveway, especially if it rains, so if you have a AWD car then you may feel more comfortable. We all had sedans and had no problem but the cars bottomed out in a few places. Additionally, there's lots of bugs outside so be careful if you have a bee allergy. There's not much the owners can really do about this because it's in the middle of the woods. Overall would recommend.

Beautiful location, beautiful home!
The home and the location were beautiful! The only downfall we found about the property was the property management company. We had issues with the propane tanks for the gas grill. I emailed them Tuesday evening about the issue and no one came to replace the tank. We left Saturday. There are a few dead, full size trees in the house. Not the prettiest to look at. For all the additional fees that we were charged for the management company, we were very disappointed.

Great for a getaway
Porches for days! That was by far our favorite part and renting the week of the full moon was an added benefit. Indoors was lovely as well and the ping pong table in the garage was a great distraction for kids. There was not much outdoor space to hang out that isn’t porches or driveway/road so while it is very remote, not a place where you can really send smaller kids out to play since it is on the side of a mountain. Overall we loved it and the kitchen was well appointed for making family dinners.

My mom's birthday trip
I had to work in Black Mountain a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with the area! I have gone back several times since and wanted to plan a trip up there to take my family for my mother's birthday! This home did not disappoint! The home was gorgeous, located close enough to the downtown area and had INCREDIBLE views! Normally, to get these views in a rental, you can have a very long difficult drive...Not with this one! It was conveniently located to downtown Black Mountain, an easy drive to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Plenty of room for a large group and a Ping Pong table for everyone to enjoy! I'd highly recommend this home to anyone!

Family Getaway
The home was as beautiful as it was in the pictures. The 10 to 15 minute drive into the little town of Black Mountain was spot on. The town was very lovely and would definitely go back to visit again. The local grocery store was huge and had everything possible you might need. As for the home, I would not rent again and here is why: First , I was charged a fee by the management company and a fee by VRBO. I was told I booked under Yonder but if I had only booked through VRBO I would not have had both sets of fees. It was an additional $400. Second, when we arrived, there was no ice., even though they had three ice machines. The management company rudely told me that they throw away ice from the previous people but that I could drive back to town and buy ice until the ice machines started working. After driving from Texas for two days, I didn’t really feel like getting in the car and driving back to town to buy ice. Only one ice machine started working but with 9 people there, ice goes quickly. We asked them to send someone out to fix the stand alone ice machine in kitchen, but they never did. They said they would reimburse me for the ice for the week, but they haven’t. It’s not the costs of the ice as it was the way the management company responded to me. Next, the tables on back porch need to be replaced. They are wobbly and table top is caving in. The couch and chair set were comfy though. Lastly and the biggest issue was the AC. One of the bedrooms was on the ground floor. Each night my son and daughter-in-law didn’t sleep well because it was too hot. They could not open windows as they were on the ground floor. The air could not be adjusted because they said the units would freeze up. After a few nights, they could not stand the heat any more so they moved to the couch upstairs. It was a bit better but still warm. The master upstairs was ok if you ran the fan on high. The other bedrooms were ok but none was great. No windows could be open because there were no screens. (After opening them the first night, we woke to lots of bugs that had made there way in). When we called the management company, they sent someone out and said everything was perfectly fine. Funny though, that night their room downstairs was cool for the first time but the rest of the house became warm, even the master with the fan on high. The AC issue definitely needs to be addressed. It’s hard to spend a week in a house that doesn’t cool off.

My husband and two daughters enjoyed five nights in this beautiful home. The views were spectacular the location was convenient to Asheville and the surrounding areas. Black Mountain is also a cute town. Would love to return! There is so much to do, five days was not long enough-great hiking, amazing restaurants in Asheville and a fun downtown area. Very pleasant stay at a great mountain house!
We were very happy with our stay at the High Life. The house was very clean and well-stocked with all the necessities. Communication with the property manager was easy and they were very prompt with responses. We were a group of 6 adults and two small children and the house was spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped. It has a great layout that's perfect for large families. Views are breathtaking!
