Beautiful View but (Things to know)
This was the most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed in the Carribean as well as our first time staying on a island other then a resort. The Cottage: This cottage has the best view on the entire island. Very clean and everything worked great. Note that you have to be pretty quick in the showers though. If you are planning on cooking please make sure you bring all essentials from home as far as cooking spray, spices, coffee. You can buy in the grocery store but it’s very expensive and limited! Restaurants: the food on the island is good we ate honestly where we could with what ever was open for the day! This part was extremely frustrating as far as getting food on the island they open and close when they want there are no set hours. Lorena’s was great the drinks and food both amazing. The Yatch club also had great food but would close at a differnt time everyday so we would never know who was open at what time it became a little frustrating. Emeralds at the end of the island had the best view and the owner was super accommodating. We never got to eat at the pizza place because the hours were always different. The Locals: on this island you feel very safe and welcomed. You can drive your golf cart anywhere on the island and no one bothers you. Overall view/ this was a relaxing and enjoyable stay, make sure you contact the host ahead of time to arrange pick up and drop off arrangements. Make sure you ask questions about maybe doing a preorder for the grocery’s

Terrible host! Nightmare!
Host a complete nightmare! Arrived on a Sunday. Host claimed she overbooked the property which is not possible according to VRBO, so she basically let the previous occupants stay longer and put us in an apartment above her laundromat in the center of town with no provisions as pretty much everything was closed. Didn't offer to help. Didn't offer any refund. Kept us waiting a full 24 hours before transporting us to the property. Tried contacting her repeatedly to at least get us to the beach near the property, but wouldn't respond. When she finally did, the "I'll be there in 15 minutes" turned into hours. Everything she said she would do, she didn't or took hours or a full day. "I'm going to town to get your beach towels".......didn't see them until the next afternoon. "it'll be15-30 minutes"........hours later I'm having to contact to try to find out a status. HORRIBLE! Cottage was clean. Toilet leaked horribly. Piles of trash and broken furniture just feet away from the gazebo on the beach. Provided hammock a total wreck and unusable. Had to cancel the boat tour as the boat she provided was small and uncomfortable and had no provisions - water or snacks. There was no way we were going to spend 8 hours of our day suffering on that thing! Went with Staniel Cay Adventures instead the next day. They provided a great boat with a crew, music, and plenty of provisions and knowledge. Enjoyed the property once we were settled in, but host was a complete mess! Stay away! We will never go back!

Wonderful place to stay, but its Island Life
We had a wonderful time at the cottage and would certainly go back again. The only constructive feedback I would say is I wish they would be a bit more transparent on certain things (i.e. laundry is not at cottage but at laundry mat) -- also make sure to get groceries down there (really easy to do too) and/or make reservations at restaurants for bfast/ lunch/ dinner the day before. The yacht club is always a safe bet though. And lastly make sure to rent a golf cart (ours broke down a few times but Ida took care of it). It is a wonderful place and Ida's cottages make it a bit extra special.

Peaceful getaway
The owner/host Ida is amazing, she’ll make sure all your needs are taken care of, treats you like family. The cottage is for people who want to experience the real Bahamas and the peacefulness of a little cay, there are no resorts, just a small local store with basic provisions and a couple places to eat. Great place to read, write and just relax. The views from the cottage are unreal of the turquoise bay below and perfect sunset views too. The best part is the island kitties that hang out around the cottage, giving all the love you’d like and playfully following you to the beach, if your not a cat lover, they also know how to give you space, they are so smart and adorable. Golf carts and bikes are available to rent from Ida and she can set up your pig beach, island exploring.

Know before you go!!!!
Great property and the owner was very nice. Know that you will need a golf cart to get around on the island. This is an added cost of $77 per day. Also, food is expensive, suggest bringing your staples with you.

This place was advertising they were at Staniel cay when it’s really Black Point, 5 miles away.
I paid for a room I couldn’t use. Because I didn’t know what I was getting or where it was, I would like a refund. Never used the room. I can’t rate this a 5, and a 1 is harsh I believe, but with no connection on my phone, and getting in late, this was a mistake that should be rectified

Unbelievable Atlantic AND gulf views!
The photos are very accurate. It’s a beautiful location. Do a little research, bring non-perishable foods with you, and enjoy! Rent a golf cart and see the island and definitely find a boat charter to take you to the Aquarium and Thunderball Grotto. Also, check out Staniel Cay if you’re used to more amenities.

Black Point, and especially Ida and Terrance's cottage, are wonderful places to visit. The cottage is super clean and very comfortable. The location of the cottage is idyllic, with a beach that is perfect for swimming, walking, or just lounging. What a great place to enjoy the ocean!!! Sitting on the deck is so relaxing, with a fabulous view and incredible sunsets. Black Point is a very interesting community, especially if you don't like condominiums and cruise ships!!!! The locals are very friendly and always helpful. There are a variety of places to eat and drink, a great laundromat, and plenty of places to check out the ocean in complete seclusion. The cruisers who stop in offer another element to the community, with fascinating backgrounds and stories to share. Staniel Cay is a short boat ride away! The best part of Black Point though is dealing with Ida and Terrance, who are wonderful!!!!!

another perfect week
Stayed here again this year. Place is wonderful and Ida always great and helpful. Definitely need to rent a boat for at least a few days to explore. If her son is around he is a great captain. If there during lobster season must ask to go out with Captan Ran (aka conch guy).

Gorgeous location, quiet and private
It was a bit of a culture shock when we first arrived at Blackpoint (some crumbling houses among nicer ones, tiny grocery stores, no bank/ATM, credit cards not accepted everywhere, and restaurants needing reservations for breakfast and dinner). One day the power went out 3 times on the island, but apparently that is not uncommon, and it returns within 1/2 an hour. Running water also ceases during outages, so have bottled available. Despite all of this, we fell in love with the place and would not hesitate to return. The people are so friendly! Once we figured out how everything worked, we were quite comfortable. Ida's cottage was very clean and comfortable, and nicely decorated. Everything worked, except for the wifi. It was broken, but the repairman was on vacation, so we had to go to Lorraine's Cafe for internet all week. (Not a bad thing. Lorraine's is a terrific place! And it forced us to stay off our phones and enjoy the surroundings) The views were absolutely stunning! The beach on the Caribbean Sea side was a short walk down steps (not suitable for those with mobility problems). The water was warm and clear and usually very calm. When the tide goes out, you do have to walk out a bit to reach the water, but the sand is so soft and beautiful! The beach on the Atlantic side was a rougher walk, but very interesting to explore. You will want to rent a golf cart to go into town or explore the island as these cottages are a bit farther from town, which is why they are so quiet and private. In fact, we never had to share a beach with any other people the entire week we were there! If you arrive with an open mind and friendly attitude, you will love your time here! Be sure to take one of the private guided boat tours as well. They are worth every penny!

PARADISE AND SO MUCH MORE!!!
From the moment I booked the cottage Ida Patton was so responsive and so sweet in making sure to meet our expectations. When we arrived Ida greeted us with open arms and we felt like family the rest of our stay. The cottage could not be in a more picturesque surrounding. You have the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic on the other, what else could you ask for in a vacation cottage!! We had everything we could possibly need in our cottage. It was not only neat as a pin but decorated beautifully. We wanted to fish, snorkel and explore the islands while we were there so the first day Ida set us up with her son. He was the perfect guide/captain/gentleman! He took us to all of the Islands that had something unique to offer. We were going to rent a boat ourselves but not knowing the area, we thought it best to hire a captain. Ida recommended Captain Ron. He was one of the best captains I have ever seen! We had more lobster, conch, stone crab and a variety of fish than we could possibly eat! In fact, we gave most of it away. I cannot say enough good things about our stay in Black Point!! I have traveled the Bahamas and the Caribbean for many years and this by far is at the top of our list!! Everyone on the Island were fantastic and truly grateful that we were there. We are already planning another trip in a few months. We cannot stay away!!!! Thank you to all the wonderful people on Black Point and especially to Ida Patton for making everything perfect!!! We love you all!!!
