Casually Elegant Apartment
An exceptional property, so well thought out in its layout, its furnishings and fixtures and its location. And to top it all off, exceedingly caring and gracious hosts. The pictures, although accurate, do truly reflect the elegance and charm of the apartment.

Beautiful Apartment, would stay again
My husband and I had a lovely stay in this beautiful apartment. It was very clean and well appointed with everything we needed and the owners were very courteous and pleasant to deal with. A small section in the description on this listing describes this property as being a ski in and out location with water park which doesn't quite align, but the pictures and reviews correspond to the correct apartment/ listing. The location was fabulous with a tram line right across the street that will take you to the heart of the city or up to the Cite Du Vin. There is a market on Sunday that set up nearby that allowed us to stock up on some supplies. Additionally a grocery store is located ~8 minute walk away (quicker if you take the tram). I recommend visiting the Bordeaux Tourist Information building to get a city pass which allows for up to 72 hours on all transit (trams, bus, and water taxi) as well as access to numerous museums and attractions including the Cite Du Vin. Then head across the street to Le Bar a Vin to sample reasonably priced local wines. We had a fabulous time in Bordeaux, and would stay in this apartment again.

Lovely apartment in great part of Bordeaux
We were met outside by Jacques and he helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. Both Jacques and Nicole greeted us and showed us around the apartment. They were helpful with dinner recommendations and left us a nice bottle of wine! We had a wonderful time in this beautiful place and would recommend to anyone.

Bordeaux trip
We stayed at Nicole's property during the Rugby World Cup, took in 4 matches at the stadium and travelled around the Aquitaine area visiting several towns and cities by train. The apartment is very well situated within the Chartrons area of Bordeaux and was quiet. There are several bars/bistros etc within a very short walk though too. The tram stops right outside the door so is very handy and we used this a lot during our visit - it connects (via a change) to the railway station (and I think it also goes out to the airport too). The apartment was well-appointed and very comfortable. Nicole's communication were fantastic all the way through the process and both she and her husband were on hand to meet us on check in. We really enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful Bordeaux Apartment
The apartment was as lovely as the pictures depicted. The furnishings were exceptionally elegant, but also totally functional. The location on the tram line and across from the river walk were perfect and convenient. The hosts, Nicole and Jacques were very welcoming and thorough in their review of all amenities. We were very glad to have met them.

Very Comfortable Apartment, Good Location, Responsive Host
My wife and I stayed at this property for four nights. The host was great and very responsive. The apartment was very comfortable and convenient to major attractions. The allow challenge is that the apartment is on the second floor and you have to take 47 steps to get to apartment and there is no lift. If you are capable of taking stairs this is an excellent property.

A marvellous place to stay.
This property was even better than expected. It is in a fabulous location: near a tram stop, near the river, near the outlet stores, near the city - but not too close. We were met by our hosts who showed us through the apartment, pointing out the various things it offers. I really like to meet hosts rather than just be given a key. It puts the place into context. The apartment itself is well designed, elegant and has every possible home comfort. The Sunday food market is virtually across the road and it is great to shop then come home for lunch. It is in an historic building and the entrance behind an ordinary set of wooden doors , opens to an amazing long, stone floored corridor, secured by fabulous gates and a delightful courtyard. The apartment then is up a beautiful wide stone stairway which is a joy to climb. We hope to return to this beautiful, well appointed apartment.

A Wonderful Place to Stay
Nicole's appartment was just what we wanted. It was very nicely furnished and felt like a real home. Lots of space to spread ourselves, set in a vibrant part of Bordeaux but, because it is at the back of the building, very quiet. The tramline just outside allowed us to travel into town easily. The carpark nearby was easy to use. And Bordeaux is a great place to stay. And Nicole's appartment was a great extra bonus.

A wonderful apartment in a fabulous location
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful apartment. From the moment we booked in January 2020 to our eventual arrival in August 2022, communication from Nicole was exemplary, and we received the warmest of welcomes on our arrival. The hosts have thought of everything you might need, and the location is perfect for exploring both this fabulous city, and the coastline less than an hour away. The parking space is invaluable but the tram stop is just 2 minutes away and Chartron is an interesting and vibrant quarter of the city where you can find restaurants, museums and supermarkets. We cannot recommend this apartment and the lovely hosts highly enough!

Perfect Location and Great Hosts
Our stay started with a visit with hosts Nicole and Jacques who thoroughly went over all of the MANY great features in the apartment. It is beautifully decorated in a grand yet comfortable atmosphere that makes one instantly feel at home. The area is rich in fine restaurants along the same street as the apartment as well as across the street along the waterfront which is also perfect for long strolls or a bikeride. We recommend this location highly!

Spacious and well located apartment. Parking, 200 meters away, is a big plus.
The owners are very gracious. The location is excellent with the Garonne and the tramway in the front. Good restaurants nearby. The apartment is on 2 floors with the main bedroom, a second bedroom, a bathroom and a separate water closet on the second floor. The living room and the kitchen are on the first floor. The coffee machine is good but there were not enough coffee capsules for our 5 days stay. The apartment is in an attractive old building and we had to climb some stairs as it is on the second floor.

Beautiful little gem in the heart of Chartrons
This apartment has charm and lots of character. Decorated very tastefully with a lot of character and detail. Well equipped with all that you need. The tram is right outside the door and old Bordeaux is a 10 min tram ride. Chartrons area has lots to see with restaurants and shops as well (you need to scout the out by the water). Both Nicole and Jacques met us and helped us with our luggage, parking (also a perk) and recommendations. They couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. There is no elevator but it's only on the second floor (first in the French system) and was not a problem for us, an older couple. A wonderful stay in a beautiful apartment made Bordeaux even more appealing.

Beautiful Bordeaux!
VRBO asks us: Did we enjoy our stay at this property? On, my gosh, did we ever! Nicole and Jacques apartment on quai de Chartron is fabulous. It is exactly as pictured and all of the positive reviews are correct. We were met by Nicole, Jacques and their daughter, Caroline, at exactly the time we had told them we would arrive. All of the features of the apartment were pointed out and how to work them explained. The apartment is almost as charming as the hosts. It is extremely comfortable for two people and very well furnished. It is at the back of the building, which makes it very quiet but the very large windows in the sitting room, kitchen and second bedroom make it light and bright. There were plenty of closet space and clothes hangers. The location is superb. It is just a few steps from a tram stop that takes you into the downtown center in a matter of moments. However, the walk to the town center is fairly short and quite easily done. The apartment is also just two tram stops from the Cité du Vin, which is an extraordinary experience. Many restaurants, cafés and bars are within easy walking distance. And gorgeous river walking is right across the street. If you have a car, not to worry. The apartment comes with a reserved parking spot in a secured parking garage that is a three minute walk around the corner. We took two day trips out of Bordeaux (Margeax and Sauternes) with no trouble at all. This apartment provides the perfect combination of lively, convenient location, quiet retreat and refined and relaxed ambiance. We cannot recommend it too highly.

Lovely time in Bordeaux
On a positive note, the apartment is lovely, clean, and quiet. Well equipped kitchen for cooking meals. The transportation was great using the street car or bus. The issue for us was the owners do no speak any English. We thought it was our error when we booked the apartment, but upon returning from our vacation, we reviewed the listing and it states English as #1. It was difficult for us because we speak no French so we had rely on the owner speaking French into a phone for communication. The other issue we had which was a bigger issue was we had to sign a 3-4 page contract that was all in French. We have used VRBO/HomeAway for multiple trips and have never had to sign a contract. We were unable to fully understand what we were signing. It was very uncomfortable to sign something that we could not read in English. We would advise that the owners provide a contract in the renters language so they can read it before signing. However, when you book most apartments on HomeAway you complete this information on line and acknowledge what was basically, from what we could tell was likely in the contract. Overall, the apartment was lovely and the location could not be better. We wish the owners well and thank them for a lovely time.

A fabulous 5 days in Bordeaux
This apartment perfectly on the Quai des Chartrons is nothing short of fabulous . It is beautifully furnished and has everything you need . The apartment is pristine and reflects so well on the owners , Jacques & Nicole , who are such welcoming and helpful hosts . It is situated perfectly for a gentle stroll along the river into the city or you can take the tram from right outside the door . The rental comes with the massive bonus of secure private parking for those who rent a car and want to drive to Arcachon , the amazing Dune du Pilat or the vineyards of Medoc , St Emilion , Margaux and the rest . Then come back to the city , freshen up and spend the evening in this beautiful city We had 28 really busy days in France so we spent the last 5 of them here . We could not have been happier . I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this rental and these lovely people . It's as good as it gets Book it if you can . You won't regret it

Cozy and well situated. Just what we wanted.
This lovely apartment/home was exactly as presented in the description, with easy access to the city and train station by tram. It was the perfect base from which to take our day trips and a very warm and relaxing place to come back to in the evening. We didn’t really cook, but you could easily do so if you wanted. You do have to be able to take two flights of stairs, as there is no elevator, but we were fine with that.

Beautiful, comfortable apartment, with the nicest hosts!
Not only was this apartment beautiful and comfortable, the hosts, Nicole and Jacques went above and beyond to help us. We were meant to stay in Carcassonne the night before we arrived in Bordeaux; we arrived in Carcassonne the afternoon of the terrorist attack, and did not stay. The apartment was not available and, as it was the night before the Bordeaux marathon, hotel rooms were impossible to find online on a small phone with public wifi connection, and my poor French. We called Nicole while we were waiting to change trains at an interim station, and she found us a room. We were so relieved! Thank you, Nicole and Jacques, for a lovely stay!
