Misleading advertising, minimal privacy or peace and quiet.
This place does not have the level of privacy or peace and quiet one would expect at a property advertised as being a “hideout on 15 acres”. The river access is not just “shared with an RV campground”; the office for the campground is within a few steps from your front door. The office didn’t ever appear to be occupied during our stay, so we frequently had guests who were looking for the office walking on to the property and asking us where to go. The advertisement suggests that the home has a washer and dryer. The door to it is normally locked because it’s used by the on site property management, who appears to be full time on site and close to the home. There is also an ice machine in the laundry room that they use to sell ice to the RV tenants at 3 bucks a bag. This means that you will occasionally hear management inside the home, albeit behind a locked door to a room you *should* be able to use, doing their laundry or scooping ice to sell to RV tenants. There was an airboat stored in the homes garage. During our stay, it was pulled out on its trailer and parked almost immediately below the room with all of the bunk beds where both families children were sleeping. On Friday night and some time after 10PM, the airboat was started and run up continuously for several minutes, waking up everyone who was sleeping in the home. The home had no smoke detectors downstairs. We reported this and it was not resolved. There is a 1500 character limit otherwise I’d share more.

Golf weekend
My group of 8 came here for a weekend golf trip. Due to some golf course freeze damage at the location we had previously booked I was looking for another place to stay that could house our group when I ran across this one. It looked perfect online and after our stay, turns out it was. James made the process easy, answered all of my annoying questions and even let me stop by early to drop some stuff off before checkin time so I didn't have to tote it to the golf course and back. There was more than enough room for myself and 7 buddies. We are all 50+ so having a little extra room and comfortable beds is pretty important to us all. Everything was super clean and the property managers, Bob and Peggy, were very nice and attentive to any needs we had. The property is far enough away to feel like you are in the country but convienantly close to the local golf course & downtown Glen Rose. James has the place very well stocked and you will be hard pressed to find something you need that is not there. We all enjoyed our stay very much and will be working it into our rotation of places to stay for our annual golf weekend.

Quiet location
We really enjoyed the stay. There was lots of space inside and outside, and nice amenities. The only issue we had was the oven, it let off really strong fumes. Some of us got headaches and we were a little worried about the kids. So don’t plan to use the stove unless that problem gets fixed. We would otherwise come back to enjoy the quiet environment, beautiful views, and bug catching with the kids. The river is walkable, and although it’s a muddy swim, it was fun to play along the banks and collect rocks. Bring a canopy or umbrella for shade.

Golf Outing
We rented this house for a weekend of golf at Squaw Valley GC. This place was only about 10 minutes from the golf course. This place was perfect. Plenty of rooms, covered patio with outdoor kitchen and gas grill. There is also access to the Brazil’s river just a short walk from the house.

Thanksgiving 2022
Brazos River Lodge was AMAZING. We were honored to be the first family to stay at the property. It was everything and more than the pictures showed! Lovely hideaway nestled on a beautiful tree filled property. The rooms were generously spacious and the retreat had all the amenities of home! I was in a bind to host my families Thanksgiving, so I opted to rent the BRL for 5 days. It looked like the perfect place to host my large family and all my grandchildren. IT WAS EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR. Plenty of indoor and outdoor games and activities. The outdoor patio area with grill, Large TV, bar, darts, and plenty of seating for eating or lounging was very useful. My boys enjoyed using the Large Smoker and pavilion area to cook. My grandchildren enjoyed walking the edge of the Brazos looking for Dinosaur tracks, playing corn hole, and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. There is something to be said for a gathering place where everyone can find something to do. I was worried about cooking a large Holiday dinner without knowing the kitchen...but I reached out to the host James and asked about certain kitchen items and he responded quickly to put my mind at ease. Everything was brand new, and the kitchen was well stocked with essential items needed. There are wood grain melamine plates and matching cups and nice flatware, which set a beautiful table setting for Thanksgiving. There is a commercial Ice maker for filling ice chest and having MORE THAN ENOUGH ice for large groups. There is also a large Washer and Dryer in the Utility room for guests to use. The care taker Bob and his wife Peggy, live on the ground and were always available to answer questions or assist you in any way possible. BRL is also an excellent place to host a Wedding or special event! My family and I enjoyed or time and look forward to returning soon. OVER ALL EXPERIENCE WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!
