Converted Chapel in the bustling port of Brixham

Midholm Chapel is a characterful former church hall and historic local landmark. Originally built c1880, it has been lovingly converted to provide a bright, contemporary living space with all the home comforts you could wish for.

The Chapel is walking distance to the charming fishing port of Brixham, with easy access to the South Coast Path and a number of secluded coves and beaches. The delights of Dartmouth and Torbay are a short drive away.

The Chapel has a quirky 'upside down' layout with a double height entrance hallway, 3 bedrooms (1 en-suite), a family bathroom and garden room on the ground floor, and a sociable, open-plan first floor space which is flooded with light from the original chapel windows. The private courtyard garden is a sun trap in the afternoon (great for BBQs) and there is bench in the front courtyard which provides the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

Gorgeous chapel!
Upon arrival the chapel stands out, towering above the road, it’s an utterly gorgeous building. Check in was so easy as was check out. A truly beautiful space inside and outside. The space really suited us as a family of 4 (kids ages 13 & 3) as we each had a bedroom and our teenager had the snug space upstairs and loved it. There were a few niggles however, including, that we just didn’t feel the cleanliness was of the standard of a place where you are spending quite a bit per night. There were many cobwebs around and we found rubbish and old socks under one of the sofas in the snug. The table cloth I’m not sure had been wiped between guests and my daughter’s white socks came off black after running around for the afternoon! Not sure the dishwasher is working 100% either as most things needed a wash upon getting them from the cupboards. We noticed that there were no cupboards for putting our food in so it just sat on the worktop. Sadly we couldn’t open the conservatory door as the smell of damp was just so strong! Cleanliness aside, the building itself is lovely but maybe could just do with a really good spring clean!

All was excellent, and comfortable. Very impressed with the layout, rooms, furnishings, fixtures and fittings. Some minor items (En suite WC leaks, and a broken drawer) need repair. We will return!

We had a lovely time
It was a lovely house and we stayed there for 5days. The location was good that we've walked to town a couple of times (took around 15mins). There is SPAR supermarket, a local pub, Chinese & Indian takeaway nearby. We were lucky to park opposite the hse for a couple of days then we parked at the road behind the hse afterward so it was ok. We were a group of 9 people so it was a bit of strech as 2 sofa beds upstairs in the snug wasn't an enclosed room (so no privacy and not as comfortable). And I would suggest it may need a bit of cleaning of the sofabed cushions, when opened there were quite a lots of dog hairs and same as the turquoise carpet. The house was lovely and warm and cosy with loads of hot water for showers even with 9 people. The three toilets came in useful. All in all Brixham was a great town to visit and it was a lovely property and a very enjoyable place to Stay.

Amazing property
The Chapel was well presented, cosy, great features, beautiful. Lots of board games, well kitted out kitchen. Lovely bathrooms and comfortable beds, all tastefully decorated. However, it was a good 25 minute walk to Brixham harbour. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Awesome house
We absolutely loved this house and will definitely come back. We have five kids between 1-8 years old and it was great. We had space, enough beds, and great lounge areas. Things I don't feel were super clear in the pictures: the upstairs is where the kitchen and lounge are, and the bedrooms are on the main floor entrance. Upstairs has a nice open plan lounge, kitchen and dining and also an extra snug space. I didn't understand that from the pics so just thought I'd explain for others! It's a great layout, the kitchen is sort of the middle and either side has a couch/TV area.

Short break
It was a lovely place to stay and the parking was easy as we just ended up talking to the garage and they told us the best place to park as there was a lot cars down there, I would say the place would be very cramped if there was 9 of you staying there and one of the bedrooms is up stairs and not really suitable as a bedroom and it would also be a good idea to have the TVs put back in the double bedroom as we missed it’s we like to watch tv in the morning and when we go to bed as there was only one tv in one of the bedrooms, also it would be quite nice to have bigger beds as when you have a someone who is at least 6ft 3 it was hard for him to sleep

Just lovely
Fab property and area. Property is well furnished and lots of room with adequate bathrooms. I would suggest taking a car as lots of local cheap cars parks and my parents struggled with all the hills. Dog loved it . Overall brilliant

Great find in Brixham
Fay and Zoe were very communicative throughout the renting process and our stay. The house was beautifully set up and had everything we needed upon arrival. The road behind the house had a small children’s play area as well as a park which meant try could burn off some energy on the mornings we didn’t do too much. The harbour is about a mile walk which both young children did with ease. Absolutely fabulous stay had by all.

Great experience from start to finish. The house was sparkling clean and and beds exceptionally comfortable. I've never stayed in a property so well equipped from plates, glasses and mugs galore through to cake forks and cheese grater. Nicely furnished and very comfortable. Communications with the hosts were prompt and helpful. The chapel is an excellent conversion and designed for home comforts. Spotlessly clean, nice bed linen and towels and everything you need in the kitchen. It's a short walk down to the harbour - a bit longer going uphill on the way back ;-) Street parking in front of the chapel is an issue but very close to the garage parking lot for an allocated space.

Grown Ups Only Break!
The chapel was spotlessly clean when we arrived and there were lovely touches like milk, tea and coffee left for us. There is a very well stocked Spar at the end of the street and a Chinese and Indian takeaway too! We were 4 adults and 2 dogs so we had a lot of space. A short walk to the harbour with lovely restaurants and bars. There are some wonderful walks and coves to explore. We have been before and there are still lots of things we haven’t managed to do! Brixham is such a lovely place to explore and the chapel is a wonderful homely base to do it from! We’ll be back again!

Stunning property in great location
The property is just wonderful, has everything you need and is so special. It’s comfortable, spacious & modern. Having the rear courtyard was great for the dog. Very close to the property are two great takeaways, a lovely little pub, shop (well stocked), gorgeous church & a lovely park to walk the dog. The parking at garage is great but we always managed to park outside the property. You can explore so many places from here, beaches are stunning, Goodrington Sands was lovely & dog friendly. I recommend a trip to Dartmouth. You can walk down to Brixham, after a long week we gave in & got a cab back on our last night but walk isn’t too bad, just uphill on way back! Lots of restaurants, shops & places to have a drink. It was a relaxing week in a lovely part of the world. Very dog friendly too in the whole area. Finally our hosts, Zoe & Fay were so helpful, responsive & friendly. I can’t thank them enough, most holiday homes are faceless but our hosts were so efficient & customer focussed, it was refreshing & appreciated. Thank you both so much.
