Summary:
Our property is a gorgeous 100 acres, located on Bungonia Creek. We have a vineyard, permaculture gardens, aquaponics system, a no-dig vegetable garden, cows and sheep in the paddocks, and an abundance of native wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats, rabbits, and colourful native birds.
The eastern boundary of our property is formed by the Bungonia Creek as it winds its way through to the Bungonia Gorge, a popular tourist spot for hikers and canyoners, located in the Bungonia National Park.
The Space:
The tiny house is nestled in a small clearing surrounded by native trees and vegetation. There is a view over our dam and distant views across the valley. We are situated on the site of an extinct volcano and have the ruins of the old "Hit or Miss Inn" (c 1832) located in one of our paddocks.
Our tiny house is a lovely studio space of 139 sqft. It offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette, complete with a queen sized bed, ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning and heating. Perfect for 2 persons!
The kitchenette has everything you need to cook your light meals with. A portable cooker, cookware, cooking utensils, cutlery, dishes & silverware, microwave and even a mini fridge. The portable cooker can be kept in the drawers when not in use to maximise space.
Our bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers). In Australia's severe climatic challenge of bush fires and drought, we help to save the environment by conserving water using an eco-friendly toilet. Wastes are broken down in the compost toilet via an aerobic decomposition process. It is a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours.
If you're using your own soap, shampoo, tooth paste, we ask that you bring biodegradable ones so that the grey water runoff does not harm the environment. Thank you!
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and are welcome to explore the entire property. You may visit the house and garden but appointment should be arranged beforehand.
The Neighborhood:
We are located 10 minutes from the beautiful Bungonia National Park, which contains the Bungonia Gorge, which is the steepest slot canyon in the Southern Hemisphere. The historic town of Marulan is 15 minutes away by car, and offers cafes, restaurants, a supermarket, and antique stores to browse. The city of Goulburn (the first inland city in Australia) is 25 minutes by car and has everything needed for a country town.
