The Red House is an architect-designed straw bale home on five acres of forest, halfway between Margaret River town and the beaches, and a ten-minute walk from the river. This eco-friendly holiday home offers the authentic Margaret River experience and feeling of serenity and peace.
The expansive open-plan living room boasts two sets of four-meter-wide cafe-style bi-fold doors that open to the north-facing gardens and the forest, allowing guests to relax indoors while watching blue wrens, black cockatoos, parrots, and kangaroos in the garden.
The kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking, and there are two living areas: one with a TV and another featuring a large wood-burning stove set against a granite wall, ensuring warmth and coziness with ample firewood available regardless of the weather.
The bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, all with big timber French doors opening to the gardens. Each bed is hand-crafted from jarrah or tuart with top-class linen. The main bedroom features a king-size bed, the next two bedrooms have queen-size beds, and the fourth bedroom, in the tower, has a pair of king-size singles.
The main bathroom boasts a hydro-therapy spa bath with two pumps and 26 jets, offering a luxurious bathing experience. This is a spacious room with a large window overlooking the forest.
As Red House is nestled deep in the bush, it's part of a vibrant natural ecosystem. While we take meticulous care to maintain a comfortable and clean environment, it's not uncommon to occasionally encounter some local wildlife, including insects, inside and around the house.
