Property Characteristics
The guest house is located about three minutes from Carmel Valley Village, 10 minutes from Laguna Seca Race Track and 15 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea. It is a separate structure with bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen/dining area. Fully equipped, the apartment features a heated floor in the marble-tiled bathroom and walk-in shower, king size bed, robes and slippers, dimmable lights throughout and an entertainment center and Wi-Fi connection via cable. Both Netflix and Amazon channels are included. A private stone deck is right outside your door and a sun deck. A swimming pool (Not heated) is also on the property. Climbing roses, lavender field, wisteria and many other flowers adorn the property. A Bocce court with balls for both bocce and pentaquin (boules) completes the property’s amenities.
Wine tasting and Restaurants
The Monterey Peninsula is known for a very wide selection of good to very good restaurants and dozens of tasting rooms featuring wines and olive oils made locally and in nearby wine growing regions of California. There are about 20 tasting rooms just up the road in Carmel Valley Village and more in downtown Carmel. There are also several notable restaurants nearby.
Sport Activities
The signature sport of the Monterey Peninsula is golf. Some 16 golf courses await, among them the famous courses of Pebble Beach including Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hills and Spanish Bay, all accessible to the public. Many other challenging and scenic courses are also available – Black Horse and Bayonet, Quail Lodge, Del Monte, Laguna Seca, Carmel Valley Ranch, Pasadera and Corral De Tierra are all within about a 20 minute drive from the guest house.
Other sport activities are available throughout the peninsula. There are several scenic hiking trails within a short distance. The entrance to Garland Ranch, with miles of scenic trails, is just one mile from the guest house. Bicycling is everywhere on all the local roads. Whale watching, scuba diving and kayaking on Monterey Bay are popular aquatic activities and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must-see attraction.
Shopping
Carmel-by-the-Sea is shopping central, specializing in art from both local and international artists, with clothing stores, many specialty stores and dozens of restaurants. Del Monte Center in Monterey features a number of national brand stores as well as a multiplex theater and several restaurants. The Barnyard and Crossroads shopping areas, both at the mouth of the valley, are about 10-15 minutes from the guest house.
Special Events
As a vacation destination, Monterey is also host to a large number of special events every year. The annual AT&T golf tournament always attracts top players and the US Open is played periodically at the Pebble Beach venues. The Monterey Jazz Festival, the motorcycle Gathering at Quail Lodge and several other festivals take place throughout the year. The Big Sur Marathon attracts some of the best runners in the world. Possibly the best known event is the Pebble Beach Concourse D ’Elegance and auction. Through the years so many other car events have been added at venues around the Peninsula that locals now speak of “car week,” which features some six or seven important auctions, specialized single-make car shows and the Historic Races at Laguna Seca featuring the beautiful race cars of the post-war era.
