We stayed there for four nights and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent and very helpful. The rooms were clean and nicely kept, especially considering the incredible age of the place! It sits in the center of the high street next to the crescent, pavilion, and opera house. If you are going to visit Buxton, you should stay at the Old Hall Hotel.

Fantastic location. Refurbished bedroom was fabulous. Some areas of the property are a little tired but undergoing refreshments and so I am Sure will be lovely. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Most staff were friendly and helpful. A couple were brief and seemed liked they would rather be elsewhere, but nothing to put me off going again.

Good location, on street parking where you pay at meter but when we were there the meters were not working so got free parking. Breakfast is buffet style with reasonable choice, cooked items, bread, toaster, jams, fruit, cereals, etc. Restaurant and bar available for evening meals or drinks and lots of take away and restaurant choices within a 5 minute walk. Park opposite, shops nearby, train station not far away either. Building is old so expect some creaky floors and older style design, but it was clean with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms cleaned daily, had an enjoyable stay.

Just Ideal
Whilst reviews of hotel were mixed the character of the hotel more than made of for slightly shabby appearance. The location of hotel was perfect for attending concert at Opera House & parking couldn't have been better.

We were really happy with our recent 3-night stay. We booked a family room for two people - we prefer to have two beds when jet lagged & our room was a perfect set up for us (could either be a king or two twins, plus a sofa bed). Our room was spacious and bright and we were actually pleasantly surprised at how roomy the bathroom was, which had a small tub good enough for a soak. This is a quaint, old historical building which means you can expect creaky stairs and floorboards; we travel with a noise machine so zero noise issues for us when sleeping. We had no issues taking our luggage in the elevator, although we lucked out when bringing them down - the service guy was just about to start working on it. Excellent location for everything you need in Buxton; we walked around the park and through the downtown most days. Great choices of restaurants around. We were not impressed with the buffet breakfast, it was very expensive for the low quality and minimal selection, so advise to try a local well-reviewed place instead. The bar area and quaint front room for afternoon tea looked more inviting, however. Staff were all fantastic and made our stay all that more enjoyable. We will defo choose Old Hall Hotel again when we next visit this part of UK!

The history and good situation. I would have liked to have a a menu change for dinner, each evening. We loved to food the first night. And was looking forward to seeing the next day menu. But it was the same. Breakfast was first class.

Average.
Average stay in this old hotel. A net curtain for the roadside view bedroom window would have been preferable. Some areas are in need of attention, worn furnishings, flaking paintwork in places. At breakfast a 15 minute wait for fresh fried eggs and other items not hot enough was a disappointment. Very comfy bed and good quality linen. Service from staff was good.
