The hotel property is absolutely beautiful and clean. The cons of the hotel….we were told at check-in that none of the restaurants required a reservation but one (humado). The remaining restaurants were casual and one could just walk in. However, we discovered that was not the case at bahia. The hostess explained that the restaurant was completely full, as was the waiting list. The next day I went to make a reservation with concierge and they told me the restaurant was at capacity, but would place me on a waiting list. I was told that a confirmation text would be sent via whatsapp, but sadly that never happened. Additionally, I decided to check for a reservation with the restaurant and they told me that I should be making the reservation with concierge, but they were able to give me their last reservation at 8:30! We arrived an hour earlier hoping they may be able to seat us, but the unaccommodating hostess told us it was not possible. The hostess was condescending and has no interest in helping. The service at the hotel overall is horrible. Not only does it take a while to receive your check, but they do not check on you at all. The best service we had was from Diego at Bahia, but perhaps that was only because it was late and they wanted to close. The only other great service we received was at the adult pool from Jorge and at the spa. Otherwise, all the remaining services were disappointing.

Very poor experience! This is not for an US American or for a sophisticated traveler. I’ve stayed at other Sofitels but this does not compare . Customer service is lacking 1) charged double for dinner meal. Paid in cash 700,000 peso meal and then got charged apparently they claimed that they never received the cash. We asked to check cameras , but without showing us the camera footage , they claimed I never left the money. Why would we ask to check cameras if we were lying 2) Room was musty And wet we asked to change rooms , but instead was given a humidifier . We had to empty out all the water twice in a Night 3) we asked for an extra room for a our daughter ( I was me & my 2 young adult kids), apparently they didn’t have an additional room , but despite the original cost of the room at $369. They charged us $250 for extra person for a 1 bed room and did not offer any additional towels, or bedding , until we requested later that night 4) The English of management staff is poor. A rare person would have some mastery of the language , but far & few. If you are not fluent in Spanish , you will struggle . This eliminates many international travelers , where English is the main world language and at a high end so called 5 star establishment like Sofitel, one should expect international communication amenities The outdoor facility is clean and views are nice , but if your not a local traveler this is not the place for you

Property well kept and exceptionally clean. Staff was amazing, very attentive and friendly. I specifically loved the cooling towels that smelled amazing and very refreshing. Breakfast was the best, special thank to Willian at Calablanca and Sebastian at the beach for going above and beyond to unsure we had everything we wanted. The most amazing time in Barú!!!!

This is our favorite hotel we’ve ever stayed! The staff went above and beyond for us in every restaurant, bar, housekeeping, concierge. We highly recommend Sofitel BARU!

Staff was very friendly and went above and beyond. Not a lot of Colombian style dishes available. There were more Mexican dishes. Restaurant prices were more aligned with US pricing and not Colombian pricing

Nice buildings, but ...
Nice facilities, a little uncomfortable for people with limitations. What disappointed me was the sea, and the lack of recreational activities, at least live music in the bars.
