Beautiful cabin and location
Had a great stay. Check in when without a hitch, Mona let us know that she was available in case we needed anything. This is a beautiful little cabin and I really enjoyed the location and privacy. I could tell that she really takes Pride in her rental, the river is directly in the back only a stone's throw away. I would definitely rent again and I would recommend this cabin to anybody who is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Myself I love to cook so one thing that I really appreciated was that she provided non-stick pans. I have rented locations from New York to California and most states in between and this is the first time that I have been able to cook without my food sticking to the pans. This is probably the cleanest location I have rented. Mona is a great host and a very nice person.

Fantastic stay at a quaint cabin on the scenic Sacramento River in Castella. My wife and daughter especially loved the trains out front of the cabin as they choo chood by, I loved the tranquility of the running river out back.

Just what we hoped for
Mona's cabin was perfect for us. It was cozy, warm, welcoming, with a wonderful covered back porch. Our son came up for a day and the two bedrooms with two baths works great. With a fishing river in your back yard what could be better :)).

Beautiful property on the Sacramento River. Home was a well maintained 1904 2 bedroom cabin. The kitchen was new and updated. Hostess had it well stocked with just about everything. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We will go back.

A gift for my parents
I bought this trip for my parents, who have a love for fly fishing. They are really new to not just camping or staying at a hotel and this was their second vacation home they have visited. They were IN LOVE! Definitely a rustic cabin feel and the decor of fly fishing is everywhere which my parents loved. The location is beautiful the host was amazing and kind and so welcoming. They can't wait to go back.

Perfect mountain cabin
Great spot to relax watch the river go by. Fun to be able to fish just down from backyard. Simple cabin but had all we needed. Some may find the trains that run across the street a bit loud but they were part of the charm too.

Wonderful Gem Found on a Whim
Booked this on a whim needing a getaway, and the pictures don’t do justice to the cabin - it was nicer than expected. Definitely a gem find - we will be booking the property again in the future! Definitely loved it, and so many positives about our stay - the location, the property, the owner, the amenities provided, the trains, the feeling of safety, the nature while being comfortable, accessibility to the water, and the perfect place for family time. Yes, yes, yes - thank you Carr family!

Wasted Trip
Got to the property and it had already been rented by the owner to neighbor’s family. Property owner failed to respond to communication for booking 30 days prior to trip. She told VRBO she had too many emails to be able to respond. Ended up in a hotel room that smelled like dirty feet. My children were very disappointed the trip was cut short.

Cozy cabin on the river
We enjoyed our stay here. The cabin has been remodeled while thoughtfully retaining the original charm. The decor theme is fishing and woodsy. The cabin was very clean and Mona is there if you need any help or want to find out about places to explore. We enjoyed going to Vista Point in the Castle Crag campground. Its so close so be sure stop. Its only a short beautiful walk from the parking area. The fireplace in the cabin is awesome!

Very nice very comfortable. Being so close to the river was terrific. Even though it was cold to be out on the back porch with coffee was wonderful. The trains were not a problem in fact we enjoyed them very much. Especially the art ( graffiti ) on the cars.

Great cabin on the river.
This cabin was great. It is located on a quiet street and there is not a lot of traffic. Yes, there are trains going by, but that is charm of a railroad town. I have been visiting Dunsmuir area since I was a child. I have rented cabins and houses in the area for many years as my two boys grew up. My youngest son drove up to fish for two days before his enlists in the Air Force and he walked away happy... and with trout. I think this was the best cabin I've rented yet. You can walk out the back door and walk down to the river. The cabin has history and yet the kitchen has modern convinces. The sheets and towels were crisp and clean. I like to cook and BBQ, and the cabin was well appointed and made it easy with nice plates, cups, etc. vs. the typical "old stuff" people typically have in weekend cabins. The host was great. There was a power outage on the first day there due to a tree falling on power cables, but we went fishing very early. Turns out, Mona came by with fresh coffee just in case we needed it. I would rent this cabin again. Thank you Mona for being such a great host.
