Apollo Home "Cozy and independent home near the Ursino Castle"

Independent house, recently renovated and carefully finished, is adjacent to the Ursino Castle, the historic fish market "A Piscaria", the thermal baths of the Address and not far from Piazza Duomo (350 meters). The house has a well-equipped kitchen with a large living area, the bedroom is cozy and romantic.
The area is the heart of the historic center, where the main sites of interest are within walking distance. Furthermore, given the high concentration of trattorias, typical Sicilian restaurants, pubs and clubs, you will breathe the nightlife of Catania and therefore very popular as well as in the daytime even in the evening and at night making the stay particularly charming and peaceful.


"Apollo Home" is a quiet and reservate house located in very heart of the historical center, a few steps from the "Ursino Castle" and from the ancient fish market called "A piscaria". The whole area is full of typical restaurants, and it is all surrounded by historical sites such as the "Terme dell' URL" and the "Terme Achilleiane". The Cathedral square, "Piazza Duomo" is less than 200 meter far away. The whole apartment's area is more than 50 sqm and it is newly renovated and carefully finished.

Comfortable and Convenient
Cozy apartment conveniently located to the center of Catania. You are a one minute walk to Castello Ursino and a five minute walk to Catania's central fish market. There are plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes located within easy walking distance of the apartment. It was very clean and comfortable. Diego was an outstanding host who was always available. He answered all our questions and arranged for our taxi transportation from and return to the airport. We had an enjoyable and a memorable experience.

Loved house, location & support of property owner
This location is surrounded by great restaurants and nightlife. Our morning cappuccino (1.5 euros) was just steps away from our door. There is no easier way to get picked up for a tour or tell a driver where to take you home than being next to the Castello Ursino, a short block from our flat. Diego was kind enough to schedule a service to and from the airport and they were prompt. We want to stay here again!

Live next to a Castle from the 1200s
Before choosing an apt in Catania, I looked at different traveling sites and read the reviews. Diego’s apt seemed too good to be true, but it WAS NOT too good to be true. It was wonderful! I wondered about an apt in an alley, too, but it was safe, private, and lovely even though a number of restaurants filled with happy customers were clustered around a small palazzo where the alley opened out, across the street from Castle Ursino. (Be sure to visit!)The apt was quiet, but more than quiet, it was beautiful, clean, spacious, and incredibly well equipped. The tasteful decor including the ambiance of the historical stone reminders of long ago, the comfort of the furnishings, and the air conditioning made us happy to return “home” everyday. Last, but certainly not least, was our host, Diego, who did everything possible to make our stay fun and memorable. If I lived in Catania, I would definitely want him in my circle of friends—funny, generous, accommodating, and honest. Thank you, Diego! Ciao!

The perfect stay
Everything about this property was perfect for me. It was spacious and had every amenity. The location was incredible It allowed me to visit Taormina and Ortigia/Syracusa as day trips. Then gave me a relaxing home base where I could walk to the fish market, loads or restaurants, the theater, the shopping on Via Etnea, and see beautiful history everywhere… Diego was very accommodating and so kind. I can’t wait to go back.

Perfect stay in Catania!
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we are so thankful we did! Diego was extremely communicative with us and answered all our questions throughout our stay. The apartment is in a wonderful location; easy to get to amazing restaurants, bars, and things to see and do in the area. Diego even arranged for a driver to come pick us up from the airport and transport us to/from Taormina. Grazie mille Diego!!

Hidden Gem
Diego was the perfect host. The apartment was clean and as described. Bed was comfortable. The location was second to none. Perfectly positioned to walk to any attraction in the city. It rained almost the entire time we were in Catania-unseasonably per the locals. The volcano erupted during a rain storm and ash flooded the city as dirt rain drops. Quite the experience! We did hire a driver and took a day trip to Mt Etna and Gambino Winery. No views in the rain and fog but totally worth the time and money, regardless! Felt like we lived in the town with the locals -a cool experience- until the sun finally came out and the cruise ship passengers descended. The city was then vibrant and the open markets colorful. Highly recommend this apartment. Would stay again!

Diego the owner is a fantastic guy and will do his utmost to help you. The flat is exceptionally clean and is located 10 min from the main square. All is within walk-in distance. If you are looking to discover Catania this is an ideal location to be based.

Nice apartment in good location.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Diego was very accommodating with our early arrival into Catania and we were able to store our bags while the apartment was being cleaned. He even carried them up the steep flight of stairs which was no easy task. He also came back when we had trouble letting ourselves in. (Turn all the way anticlockwise and give a little pull). The square nearby is a little noisy at night but it didn’t bother us. Lots of nice places to eat and only a 5 minute walk to the main square.

Quiet flat in centre of Catania
This is a well equipped and attractive flat in the centre of Catania. It's position and design makes it reliably quiet, and yet at the centre of Sicilian exuberance. Market very close. Piazza Borsellino ten minutes away. Diego, the host, couldn't be better. Highly recommended.

First Time in Catania
This apartment is a gem! If you are wanting to be close to the beach, market, centre of town and live like a local you have found the right place. Diego was wonderful and very patient with us as we asked a lot of questions during our stay. Restaurants right out side your door, shopping close by, and tours operators a short walk away. We would book this apartment again, although in the centre is very quiet for sleeping.

Diego greeted us warmly on arrival. Very thorough explanation of the facility. Modern and convenient walking to the majority of what we wanted to see. Friendly neighbors. We felt safe in the neighborhood. Washing machine works well and we needed it for a 10 day visit. Entry steps (less than 10) are a bit steep, but manageable. All in all a good stay.

Modern and comfortable and spacious
Diego was a very warm host and was eager to please. Everything worked fine in the apartment and I enjoyed the large updated bathroom with spacious shower. The location was excellent with easy access to the train station and to the airport. The piazza Duomo and the main walking streets of town were just steps away. Even closer was the daily street market with all the foodstuffs you could possibly need for cooking at the apartment. I recommend a stay here.

A gem of tranquility in a busy Sicilian square
At first glance upon arrival we wondered if sleep would be hard to come by since the apartment faces a short alleyway leading on to a square surrounded by restaurants and traffic. However, we slept like babies in our little haven of modern cleanliness which was a joy to come home to after a day of sightseeing. The bathroom is one of the most spacious modern bathrooms I’ve seen in a home stay accommodation. The living area, complete with exposed original lava rock, is also spacious. The kitchen is adequate- not designed for too much home cooking but then there are all those restaurants I mentioned. The bedroom is a little bit of a tight squeeze if you’re a little rotund but we managed fine and there is a laundry closet. The owner, Diego, is delightful and very quick to respond to any enquiries. Bottom line is if we were to return to Catania, this is where we would like to stay. A note to people that intend to hire a car- we always found space around the nearby square and miraculously the same Sicilian guy was always there to ‘help’ me park. Apparently it is customary to give €1-2 to parking helpers, which I did as security, hoping it would add a certain amount of protection. Having successfully returned the four day rental without any scratches, dents or loss of paint (in of itself a minor miracle) I think it was beneficial to get the extra help with parking.

Above expectations!
No fault found with this apartment as it was recently renovated to a high standard. The fit out is first class and with all conveniences. The location is very central. That leaves us then to talk only about the super way Diego took care of us throughout the entire process. Communication was prompt and courteous, our introduction to the apartment professionally handled. Thank you Diego for waiting for us to arrive late due to delays in our rental car collection we really appreciate it. We would definitely recommend this lovely place.

Apartment just as described, very comfortable and near everything
We had a lovely stay in Catania. Diego was an excellent host and there was nothing we needed that we did not have at the apartment. While the apartment is more to the south in the centre/tourist area, you still are walking distance to the more salient points of interest. The apartment itself was modern (yay A/C!), with character, comfortable and well equipped. Thank you for opening the doors of your place to visitors, Diego!
