Ivy Cottages is an enchanting retreat nestled in the heart of Ivy, Virginia just outside of Charlottesville. The site once known as Albemarle County's “First Modern Hotel” circa 1938 has been beautifully revived into its newest iteration and Ivy's newest retreat.
The retreat is comprised of 5 meticulously restored cottages (soon to be 8), seated on a private, gentle knoll, drawing inspiration from the idyllic charm and character of English country cottages merged with the warmth of southern hospitality. Our intent is to offer the comforts of home, while also providing convenience, privacy, and an ability to cater to your unique travel needs. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family adventure, or looking to accommodate a large wedding or reunion party, our charming, fully-equipped cottages can adapt to whatever your needs may be.
Each cottage is uniquely decorated and furnished to create a bespoke, character-rich home away from home, while also providing all the amenities needed to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. These features, coupled with our central location which puts you within ten minutes of all the best attractions in our beautiful region, make Ivy Cottages both a stunning destination in and of itself, as well as the best jumping-off point to experience all central Virginia has to offer.
Somerset at Ivy Cottages is the 3rd cottage from the entrance to the grounds and is comprised of 2 of the original smaller cottages joined together via the full-sized kitchen.
Whimsical and gentile, Somerset offers fresh and lively colors as well as art that speaks to a love of nature and history. Romantic and old fashioned, the cottage celebrates flora and fauna and the screened in back porch offers an opportunity to further enjoy the nature at your doorstep. Featuring a Queen bedroom, large kitchen, and charming living space, Somerset has a touch of the victorian era while still offering every modern comfort.

**Notice** - we are very excited and pleased to be able to offer these 5 cottages to our future guests at this time, but the grand plan for Ivy Cottages is still in progress, which we cannot wait to share with everyone. There will be times that construction work will be going on at other locations onsite, however, we have arranged for the work to only be completed during the weekdays between 9:30 am - 5:00 pm and No construction over the weekends as a concerted effort to not disrupt our guests during this time. We feel it is important to share this information with you and we appreciate your understanding as we work towards completing our vision.
