Guests often say how delighted they are to have discovered Winchcombe as it’s less busy compared to some of the more well known Cotswold Villages but still with all the charm & in a fantastic location for walking or sightseeing the region.
As a local resident and private host I take the utmost pride in our holiday cottage and love nothing more than ensuring our guests have the best possible holiday they can.
I live locally and am on hand to offer advice whether this is on places to visit, restaurants to book or bring you some more logs for the fire.
This enchanting 18th Century cottage cannot fail to impress the discerning guest. The property has been sympathetically restored with the highest standard of fixtures and fittings as you would come to expect from our previous cottage - The Vine. Everything has been thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Providing an exceptional guest experience is very important to us therefore we do not add any hidden extra's to the cost. Situated in the heart of the Anglo-Saxon town of Winchcombe you are only a stone's throw from the magnificent Sudeley Castle Esate.
N.B. For Stays during the winter months you will receive a free basket of logs and enjoy festive touches such as Fairy Lights, Wreath and Foliage over the FirePlace.
As you enter the cottage you walk into the flagstoned floor sitting room with large inglenook fireplace and log burning stove. Up two steps you walk into the brand new kitchen with four ring induction hob and electric oven, fridge freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, slimline dishwasher and washing machine. Towards the back of the kitchen is a pretty recess area for dining with upholstered bench seating and dining table. To your right is the luxurious bathroom with Bath Store bath, separate shower enclosure with rain shower head, WC and sink. From the back door you climb three steps into the sunny garden terrace complete with patio furniture. A perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets over the town.
Upstairs is the first floor bedroom with king size John Lewis bed, a wardrobe and recessed shelving complete with lined storage baskets. Bespoke light fittings complement the warm interior. The White Company bed linen and large fluffy White Company Bath Sheets & hand towels are provided for your comfort.
From this bedroom a narrow staircase leads up to the second floor bedroom which has two full size single beds and a pretty dressing table. Under bed storage is also provided.
The property is centrally heated with a brand new cast iron radiators throughout.
Please note that this property is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties due to the number of steps at the property and the twisting narrow staircase. The property was built around 1800 and has many period features.
We provide many home comforts to make packing as easy as possible. There is a hairdryer, electric fan, iron and ironing board & clothes airer provided.
Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided for your comfort.
Winchcombe itself is a delightful small town with a fascinating past stretching back as far as the Saxon era. With the beautiful Sudeley Castle set in a breathtaking 1,200 acre estate on our doorstep and a wealth of National Trust properties locally, Winchcombe cannot fail but impress. Winchcombe also hit the headlines earlier this year when the meteorite landed on a neighbouring property.
Cheltenham is a mere 8 miles away with its impressive array of festivals from Jazz to Literature, Science to Music. For horse racing fans Cheltenham racecourse is a short drive away and during the racing fixtures, there is a wonderful buzz around town as Winchcombe welcomes many more visitors to the town.
Whatever season you visit Winchcombe you will be warmly welcomed by the local pubs and restaurants which are all extraordinarily good.
Further afield you are fantastically located to visit some of the most popular Cotswold towns such as Broadway, Stow-in-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water or even Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon.
