Great Location But Shame About the Property
On the plus side, this is a great location to explore the Cotswolds with wonderful walking right on the doorstep and a welcoming pub 50 yards away. The pub served excellent food! What disappointed us about the Hayloft was to be assailed by laminated passive/aggressive notices in every room. Not the welcome we had hoped for or experienced in other properties we had stayed in. We felt like naughty schoolchildren who had to be reminded how to cook jacket potatoes or not to steal the bathrobes. The recycling instructions were so confusing we simply took ours home with us! This is supposed to be a ‘home away from home’ so to have really direct messaging about how to economise on heating costs was irritating. We had paid for the property and don’t expect to be told how to keep the owners’ costs down. The property was clean but the shower was faulty and lethal – intermittently during a shower either running freezing cold or scalding hot. This seriously needs to be looked as it is dangerous. As had been reported in an earlier review many months before, the sofas in the living room have very wobbly legs. They need to be repaired or replaced. Finally, we are not tall (5' 6" each), but clattered our heads on the beams in the bedroom many times. We had to learn to stoop, hobbit-like, around the bedroom before getting dressed one at a time at the end of the bed or in the corridor. So despite the response to an earlier review that this is to be expected in a barn conversion, even short folks like ourselves were challenged during our stay. Bring a safety helmet! We did try to enjoy a few minutes sitting in the spring sunshine on the tiny terrace that guests are allowed to sit on but couldn't find any furniture or instructions as to where this might be located. It is disappointing that you feel the owners don’t want any interaction (comments in the guest book reflect this) – a welcome card or personal touch would have made all the difference.

Cold Aston Hayloft July 22
Our stay at the hayloft was more or less OK: a very quiet location, and a good pub/restaurant right next door. Also the owner was forthcoming in letting us recharge the batteries of our e-bikes and store them in his garage. However: 1) it was very hot under the roof in these warm summer days. This place is probably better suited for another season. 2) this place has several uncomfortable stairs, outside and also inside the loft itself. It is better suited for younger people. 3) the living room was rather nice and comfortable, although the couches had wobbly legs, which gave a feeling as if they could break down at any moment. 4) the sleeping room, although it looked nice and cosy in the pictures, was too small for a double bed to fit in. It had very low beams in the ceiling, so getting in and out of bed was rather difficult to manage and very uncomfortable 5) the kitchen had all the necessary equipment; however we missed a freezer compartment in the fridge. Also we did not manage to get the electric stove going... 6) the property has a beautiful garden with old trees, which we loved to go into and be refreshed after a hot and tiring car ride. However later on we read in the provided property manual, that clients were not allowed to go into the garden, since this was considered to be private property. We find this a rather unwelcoming attitude of the owners. We would understand if there were certain restrictions made in the use of the grounds, but to forbid people to have a short refreshing stay in the garden in this summer season, is really not how we are used to travel since many years with other organisations/property managers. None of these features were mentioned in the advertisement. Conclusion: no, we will not come back to the Hayloft, and we will not recommend this property to friends, family and clients.

Charming
Great location, beautiful property, luxury linens, just the right size for two with heating; however, no cooling (though the temperature dropped at night even in July which made for a very pleasant stay). The Hounds Inn across the street and The Nuttery a short hike away had excellent food!

Beautiful Cotswolds Stay
Staying in the beautiful Hayloft provided for a lovely weekend away needed by the both of us. The Hayloft provides everything you could need and more with beautiful finishing touches to every room. The location was perfect. We were a short drive away from bourton-on-the-water, upper/lower slaughter and stow-on-the-wold. The bedroom was so warming and comforting with the bed being extra comfy. We especially loved the luxury of soft dressing gowns being provided on the bed as soon as we walked into the Hayloft. Absolute perfection after a cold day exploring the Cotswolds. Perfect relaxing weekend. Thank you very much. We cannot wait to visit again in the future.

The Hayloft perfect place to stay
We stayed 10 days in The Hayloft and we enjoyed every minute of it. The house was well equiped and central located. It is a perfect place to explore the Cotswolds. We visited many gardens, castles and nice villages. And we were very happy that the weather was warm and sunny the whole period.
