ARE YOU SEARCHING for the perfect getaway? Search no farther than Liberty Retreat. Everybody needs to get away from the daily hustle once in a while. Spend some time relaxing or curl up with a good book. Enjoy hiking, bird watching or exploring. We are located in the Appalachian Foothills of Southern Ohio. Our 70 acre property offers high rock cliffs, deep gorges, caves, a small stream and trickling waterfall. View picturesque nature, colorful birds and native wildlife from two miles of clearly marked, scenic trails, available all year. It's all part of the experience at Liberty Retreat.
OUR COTTAGE is a totally refurbished, 1960s era Jim Walter home, known as Caretaker's Cottage. Updated in 2021 with comfort and relaxation in mind, Caretaker's Cottage displays rustic charm with all the modern conveniences.
THE LIVING AREA provides comfortable seating and is open to the nicely equipped, full kitchen with peninsula that seats four. There's also a smart tv, a ton of family friendly DVDs and a good selection of books and board games.
ACCOMMODATIONS include two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, adjustable reading lamps, convenient outlets for phones & chargers and a full "Jack & Jill" bathroom (shower, sink, toilet). If you forget something, we keep a small supply of toiletries on hand.
An ample supply of fresh towels and extra blankets always available. All dishes, silverware, pots, pans, blender, coffee pot, coffee & filters are also provided. Our Keurig coffee maker is a dual feature machine, allowing drip coffee or K-pods.
IN THE EVENING, start with a crackling fire. Listen to the soothing sounds of owls, tree frogs and whippoorwills as you view the innumerable stars in the night sky.
You'll have the whole cottage to yourself. You will love the secluded, paver patio with fire pit and a variety of seating options. The firewood, fire starters and a lighter all provided. Guests may need to gather a little kindling. There's plenty right around the cottage. Get up a game of Cornhole or Hookey. Cook your meals on our Blackstone grill. How about an invigorating experience in the outdoor shower? (normally available May-Oct). See if you can identify all the different types of birds at the feeders. We love it here. We know you will too.
AFTER A DAY of harmonious nature walks, interacting with the great outdoors and enjoying all the beautiful scenery, indulge by soaking your cares away in our new hot tub. Perfect for romantic escapes, anniversaries, honeymoons, birthdays or any other reason to just ... getaway.
COMPARING PRICES - Be sure to search total price. AT LIBERTY RETREAT our nightly rate includes all we offer. We don't nickel & dime you with additional fees. We don't charge a cleaning fee, no additional guest fee, no linen fee, credit card fees or any other fees that many listings impose. It's all included at Liberty Retreat. Everyone really seems to like it. We know you will too.
WE LIVE HERE on the property. Our home is located about 250' from the cottage. The cottage is semi secluded & due to the foliage we can barely see it, but we're close enough to help if you need something. We may be a couple miles off the beaten path, but that gives you an opportunity to explore the area and see things you've never seen before. It will be worth the drive.
PLEASE READ our Liberty Retreat Policies/Rental Agreement. If you can't find it, please ask. We'll send a copy. You will be required to acknowledge our policies, complete and sign our liability waiver at check in.
** We are currently under construction adding a few amenities. We will only be performing the work when the cottage is unoccupied. It should not disrupt your stay or create any inconvenience for our guests. The back yard is a little muddy, so please avoid. Thank you
