Better places to stay
This basement 1 bedroom, can be a great place to stay, if the it were cleaned properly. When we arrived, we noticed the comforter was not clean, so we pulled back the sheets. They were dirty, went to replace them, but the next set had blood stains, we continued to look, finally found a clean set. We made the bed and bought a new comforter. The blue couch pictured is awful smelling. We placed sheets on it and did not sit on it. Don’t look up, we did and were surprised to see not just 1 or 2 dead bugs in the light fixture but a dozen. The hot tub did not look safe to use, very cloudy and strong smell of bleach. We were discouraged by this unit but hope this review finds the right set of eyes to address the cleanliness of this unit. It can be so cute, if cleaned and smelled better. There are better places to stay.

The booking being occupied when we arrived. After we entered the unit, we found other people's possessions and were soon followed in by the owner of these possessions. He said he had a confirmed reservation for the property and spoke with the owners when he arrived. We spent over an hour on the phone talking to Vacasa. It turns out the tenants who were renting the main house had occupied the basement unit that we had reserved, since there is a staircase that connects them. We were told that once we enter the unit we could lock the door to the stairs that went upstairs, but we couldn't because we didn't have the key. About an hour later some people arrived to clean the unit, and they told us that the key was in the main house. So even if the upstairs tenants hadn't entered the unit that night and taken it over, they could have entered it any time during our stay. This was incredibly distressing, and is a safety issue. This situation could have easily become hostile dangerous, the tenants were outside and saw us enter the unit, and immediately followed us in and confusion ensued regarding the booking. The host refunded some of the fees, I requested one of the nights be refunded due to the safety issue and the impact on our stay. They ignored my texts ever since. I tried Expedia, since that's how I found the property, but I was told they couldn't help because I didn't contact them within 24 hours, even though I contacted Vacasa since they were the number listed on the booking.

Paper Thin Walls and Poor Process
The walls are paper thin, so even having reasonable upstairs neighbors was keeping us awake. You could hear every footstep and even setting a glass down. The converted home is not suitable for multi family. I had to sign a contract with an international company to rent the space and they communicated various and misleading info via app, two different emails, and text of which only one of them did they respond poorly to. I asked for late checkout multiple times and got an unaware answer about late check out on a day I was not renting. They will also ask you to do laundry for you own room upon your departure. I paid you for hotel experience, not to help you accomplish your work. Whole experience seemed owner-centric and devoid of any customer service. The view was nice, the bed was good, there was some good touches along the way. Furniture does not match photos.

Quaint little place
A nice enough place, but could’ve been quieter. Pros- comfortable bed, cozy feeling throughout, beautiful views, internet was reliable and streaming without issue, plenty of places to relax/unwind. Cons- parking spot is very small and almost impossible to get to if other guests there, you can hear a lot of walking upstairs

If you like being buzzed by F18s for 8 straight hours, noisy upstairs neighbors stomping on your ceiling all hours of the day and night, and gardeners using blowers, power mowers and weed eaters outside your window while you’re trying to have a business meeting, this is the place for you!

Fourth of July
I didn't read the property details close enough to know that the property was divided into 3 units. We had the basement unit. The unit was nicely decorated, but the unit above us was really loud. Not partying, but just walking around. The basement unit really needs more sound proofing. The walk to the beach was easy. We did get stopped on the way to the beach by a neighbor, but everyone else was friendly.

Octopus Den
Overall rating was average to below average. We were disappointed that when we arrived there was no heat and no lights due to overloading of electrical outlets from portable heaters supplied by property. The property manager was not very customer friendly but the housekeeper, Marilyn was excellent. Marilyn restored power and turned up the temperature so that we could stay warm. She also checked in with us daily by text messaging to make sure that we were alright. Also, property is directly below fly zone of military jets so we had 8 hours on Tuesday of constant fly over which we had to use ear protection.

Lovely setting, small with a nice layout for 2 people. Comfrortable bed, cozy and tastefully furnished, quiet and beautiful setting. Reasonably equipped although needs more than 2 forks. Vacasa was confusing and it took about an hour on line and phone conversation to get the door code and sort out additional charges beyond the original paid balance. However, all worked out eventually and I was not charged any extra fees.

The location was great! The view was awesome. The staging was well done. BUT... They split this house into multiple units on the cheap. It's winter and getting into the 30's at night but only a single space heater in the living room to heat the entire apartment? This was formerly a daylight basement of a nice home. A daylight basement over a cold concrete slab. While you can quickly see there is a cold air return and central heat vents, the furnace is controlled by a thermostat in the main part of the house upstairs that this unit does not have access to. Who does this in a vacation rental? Try having a romantic interlude with your significant other who is so cold they're wearing a coat and hat to bed. This unit needs it's own thermostat controlled minisplit unit to heat it and cool it. They put up locked hollow core doors in front of the stairway to the upstairs to divide the house, but note I said "hollow core" door. You can hear the conversations and laughter from your upstairs neighbor. Not to mention it's an older house, so every footfall of your upstairs neighbor and their very happy running children is heard through your ceiling. They need to put insulation in the floor joists and put in thicker flooring upstairs to help deaden the sound of foot steps transmitted through the ceiling. This time of year it gets dark early. Their are designated parking spaces for all 3 units on the property. The space for this unit is pretty well hidden and their is no signage for which path to take to get to the door of this unit, which was truly dark after the sun went down since all of the motion sensing lights on one side of the building were either off or not functional. On the other side of the building there was a ground light strip along the path, but be sure you duck under the corner of the roof only 5ft above the deck (I'm 6'2") without tripping off of the edge of the deck onto the dark path as your eyes are blinded by the light right in your face on the corner of the roof. Fix the lights and add signage. When you take a shower in this unit and someone either in your unit or the upstairs unit also uses hot water, the temperature of your shower water drops 15 degrees or so. A dedicated water heater for this unit should be added. The former stairwell could be converted into separate mechanical rooms for both the upstairs and downstairs.

Some items to consider including: Pitcher Ice Trays Full length mirror Iron/Ironing board Rug/mat inside to allow place to remove shoes/control tracked in debris Additional lighting on the path from parking area to lower apartment Lovely stay - expected to be able to hear the people upstairs and the Navy jets. However, I did find it surprising not to find a thermostat dedicated to the downstairs unit. Thanks--

We loved the property...it has a great view, bed was comfortable and books and games were available to use if needed. It was easy to get to town for groceries, shops and restaurants. Our only complaint was our parking spot. If all 4 spots were used, we would not have been able to get out. It was difficult with just one other vehicle there.
