We are located in the friendly Ozello waterfront community on a nine mile 2 lane meandering road that connects a chain of islands, inlets and peninsulas. In the heart of the Nature Coast, surrounded by national parks, wildlife preserves, and designated outstanding rivers, lakes, and springs, this community has been protected from large scale development leaving you to enjoy a time capsule of Florida which boast more nature than houses, more trees than roads, and more wildlife than people. All awaiting you to explore.
There are three restaurants/bar and grills on the island. Peck’s Old Port Cove has a daily harvest from their blue crab farm. Backwater Fins is in walking distance from the cottage and has the best crab bisque!! Its a MUST during your visit. Island Outpost Grill and Bar has great breakfast and BBQ.
If it’s scalloping you’re looking for, the keys are a great location that allows for quick access to scalloping both to the north and south of Ozello as well as plenty of public access to surrounding waters. The marina is just down the street, or if you bring or rent a shallow boat, kayak, or the like, launch those from the Ozello Marina and dock in our backyard. This area is known for fishing, redfish and snook. We have plenty of parking at the cottage. No driveway, but spots in front of the cottage to use. And a crab shack out back by the canal which is the perfect spot for cleaning your fish or scallops.
If you're looking for those adorable manatees, their peak season is between November and April. Three Sisters Springs and Homosassa Springs are both excellent spots to enjoy them and are only a 15 minute drive from our cottage.
You’ve got all you need on the island, but follow the Ozello trail and soon you will be ported back to the hustle and bustle of US highway 98/19 with handfuls of must savor nature trips.
Island Excursions:
Fish, kayak, snorkel, scallop, wildlife watching, multiple public launch ramps, fishing charters, eco/airboat and snorkeling tours, kayak rental, kicker rental, bait store, and restaurants.
*** Please Note: Our home is directly on the canal. There is no fence between the yard and the seawall, so please be mindful of children and pets in that part of the yard. We have a ladder from the dock to the water.
The neighborhood is very friendly, but there are neighbors and pets nearby. Noise is typically not an issue, but just like any neighborhood there runs the risk of the occasional dog bark or people enjoying their backyard at night.
Our cottage is a pet-friendly home. If you are planning on bringing your pet, please be sure to apply the pet fee to your booking.
If arriving at note, please note that the neighborhood gets dark. We have reflective lights on the mailbox to help spot the cottage.
We remain strict on our cancellation policy. Please consider purchasing trip insurance.
