Absolute dump.
Absolute dump. I was booked for three nights but left after 1. First room had only half a shower screen, next room still had dirty towels in the bathroom the room I spent the night in had a hole in the wall and I'm glad it didn't rain as I'm sure that water would have been leaking through the roof going by the staining and flaking paint. The shower head was black with mold and at best ran at a trickle.

Full marks to the staff, especially Murray the night porter and Paulina the receptionist, for their patience and understanding of our poorly puppy and her mishaps (x2), and our apologies. A big, comfortable hotel, haphazard parking, a buffet breakfast, a reasonably good evening meal, a slow but efficient little lift, and a great shower: most of all though, in a beautiful part of the world and good value, only 30 minutes from the centre of Inverness.

Very Disappointed Highlander
A busy hotel with several coach tours in. It was an expensive stay for one night and given the location, I expected to be eating in, but I was told at reception that the dining facility was fully booked and it was suggested that I look elsewhere. Another hotel was suggested as the best bet. I eventually sourced dinner at a local Chinese takeaway and when I got back to the hotel, it was clear that the 'fully-booked' restaurant had a mixture of a few guests and bus drivers sitting-in and plenty of empty tables. I'd have expected the staff to make just a little effort to fit in one more guest - but they didn't. The room was spacious and comfortable and the area quiet and safe. Breakfast was a lack-lustre affair. Catering for the bus loads of tourists, the waiters seemed lacking in motivation. The coffee was very weak and the range of choices extremely limited. No fruit salad on offer. There were some red berries which were not replenished and refills for the juices were slow to appear. All in, the stay was over-priced and appreciable dining was non-existent.

Comfortable stay , outside needs improving .
We had a very comfortable 1 night stay , clean room and good beds. The dinner was very good for this type of hotel ( not gourmet but very tasty and nicely presented). Service was friendly and excellent. The extensive lounge areas retain the Victorian splendour. The front facade and veranda are very tatty now sadly. The hotel caters for coach parties which would normally make the mealtimes more hectic but the Friday night we stayed was quiet. It comes down to value and expectations. There is not a massive choice in the area .

I stayed at this property as part of a 2 week break to the Scottish highlands and in Particular I bike dthis hotel as it was close by to Beinn Eighe which I hiked as part of this trip. The hotel itself is an older building with a lot of history and culture, it has an interesting lift which is really old and unique and I’ve never seen one like it, the room was old in style and in some parts a little dusty but mostly clean. Breakfast in the morning was a Buffett and this was very good.

Nice room could not have meals .. dinner ..because we did not have prearranged meals . Verystubborn on this even though the expedia said there were meals. They said there were 3 busses coming in.. We suggested we would go early as the place was empty. Parking very difficult. Suggested we go to another hotel ... No heat available. Was a nice room. Large elegant. But old. Shabby genteel we call this.

We called and emailed and so did expedia for a late check in without response. Made us nervous but were able to check in without issue. The property was nice from what we saw. We just slept and left the next morning. The gentlemen checking us in was very helpful with answers to our questions.

This hotel was nice and clean. It's a bit dated and needs a revamp in some rooms and main area. We used it as a family. It was busy with coach trips. We like being able to sit in the bar area with the kids, they played pool and there are some games available to play (bring your own dice) that was a nice evening. Apparently there was a ceilidh on the Saturday night but we didn't know about it, it's a good little spot downstairs for socialising.

Compass Hospitality failed us at this Hotel!!
The Hotel must train their front of house persons to be more attentive, more knowledgable and in some cases not to be so abrupt to the paying clients who pay their wages. Its obvious a few of them don't wish to be there and should leave. We should not have to listen to any excuses for the hotels failings. Examples include " We have no Guinness, and we can't say when it will be available." and, " After all we are short staffed!" We arrived Monday pm. Wednesday evening on return to room, no room service. Advised reception of their 2 day rule, which we understood, but no one could quite grasp that Wenesday was the 2 day rule for the change. We asked someone to immediately attend to this as both sets of towels had been left on floor to alert the cleaners. I was backchatted to by a young girl when she handed me only 2 bath towels and no hand towels, then proceeded to walk away without removing the towels on the floor before we asked her politely to remove them. Her attitude was one of contempt. She was obviously, " too good to be there?" Overall we would not recommend anyone of an age, who remembers what respect, and politeness is, to enter these premises. As paying private guests we were never invited to dine in the evening in the hotel. We are still baffled by this non action by the hotel manager. We dined out one evening at the COUL HOUSE HOTEL in the same area. Beautiful dining, Beautiful cuisine and the waiter service was impeccable. We needed a treat! and this, Heaven,,
