Unfortunately this hotel is a bit worn. Over priced for what it is. The rooms are a bit tied and need some TLC. It seems that not many door closers work, every door banged shut, not what you want after you go to sleep. Shocked to wake up to beams of light coming through holes in the curtains. Very dated TV's in the rooms, remote didn't work. The bed was very lumpy and the springs twanging on every move. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food but the menu was limited and maybe not aimed at the hotel user. Maybe a TV or something in the bar for the guests to wind down after work. Limited in the area to go walk about. Limited take away. One positive £4.80 for a pint. Friendly staff. Big carpark.

A Trip Down Memory Lane
My wife and I stayed at this hotel a number of times in the 1990s and, though I'm sure there must have been changes since, it seemed just as it was before. From experience, I know it is a very creaky hotel, so I made sure I was on the first floor and I suggest you do too. It might well not be the case now, but you always knew there was somebody above you when I stayed previously. I haven't been in a hotel for many years where I chose breakfast from a menu and was served it. That added to the time travel feeling. There were only a handful of guests when I went in, so I wonder whether you might have to wait when busy? I certainly didn't, and my breakfast, though not exactly generous in portion, was delicious - good quality food properly cooked. Staff were all very helpful and I have no complaints. There is some refurbishment going on, and if you look past the cosmetics it is comfortable enough. I would say that the premium paid for the convenient location means that while I don't feel cheated, I would not book here if I was looking for value for my money.

Stayed in the two storey newer annex. Rooms are large. Bed maybe too hard for some. All staff very professional. One gripe was that window handle came off in my hand. Windows do need looking at. No air con but even though warm outside fan provided did the job. Breakfast excellent. Price excellent. Very convenient to pop into Brighton.
