We were happy to be welcomed by the Carlton George Hotel. It's an easy walk to/from both train stations & subway, walkable to shops & historical buildings, taxi stand across the street, lovely upstairs restaurant for breakfast & dinner, comforting room with a free minibar.

This hotel is ok but not great The rooms are adequate. Air con is a bit naff, Very noisy and not that cold so rooms feel stuffy Bathrooms are old and need replacement It was obviously a nice hotel when new but now it’s tired and could benefit from a total overhaul

This hotel was san excellent choice in the centre of Glasgow. 1 minute walk from Queen Street Train station and close to so many bars, restaurants and other activities. The room was excellent, clean and well maintained over our stay. The complimentary mini-bar is a great addition, especially on check-in when you want to unpack and have a refreshment. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our requests. I hope to visit Glasgow again soon and will be booking a room here!

Good location, but a tired hotel.
The Carlton George was a bit of a disappointment. However, it also had some good features, covered later. Check in didn't recognise my VIP Hotels.com status, although when I reminded them later, they gave me the discount card. The light in the wardrobe didn't work, and it was not until the end of my stay it was repaired. The pillows needed to be replaced or augmented. Now for the positive. The bed itself was very comfortable, the size of the room good, and the bathroom equipped with a functioning hot rail. The complimentary mini bar was a nice feature. The location is excellent, right by Queen Street Station and a reasonable walk from Central. It is surrounded by coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a good shopping mall nearby. The Museum of Modern Art is close, and the hotel is near Nelson Mandela Square so there are some interesting political links nearby. The staff were pleasant, and overall, my stay was satisfactory. The highlight was the location.

The Carlton George is super easy to find from the Queen’s Station. It’s a beautiful building and feels well taken care of. The young woman at reception desk was welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. I’m so thrilled to have found such an excellent base from which to explore The incredible city Of Glasgow.

Best Place for our Glasgow Honeymoon stay
We loved our stay at the Carlton George! We were on a larger trip for our honeymoon and they left a lovely note and flower petals in our room. The mini bar room was great! A perfect treat for us to just stay in and enjoy after our long travels. Loved a little whiskey to cap off the night. The hotel location was absolutely unbeatable too, we felt connected to everything.

Disappointing stay.
We have stayed at the Carlton George many times over the years. It is very well placed for Glasgow city centre. Unfortunately, this stay was disappointing. The air-conditioning was not working, so the room was far too hot overnight. In the morning, I could not get the shower to heat up at all. On the positive the bed was very comfortable. Given the cost I am not sure I would stay at the hotel again. I have also emailed the hotel since our stay about these issues and have never received a reply, which is also disappointing.

The service was exceptional. We had an issue with our AC and the team did everything they could to fix it. They offered to change rooms the following day (as they were full) but it was not needed they were able to fix it. The hotel is a bit worn but the service is lovely and it is very clean.
