We are within walking distance to the city beach, boat access, park, hospital, hockey arena, and many local restaurants/bars. It is perfect for a family getaway or small gathering of friends, or for traveling employees. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, access to washer/dryer, fully loaded kitchen, and other basic amenities will make you feel right at home. The house was perfect for our family of 5. The pull out bed was perfect for our son with a disability and we appreciated having everything he needed on the main level. The hosts really go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We appreciated the “little things,” laundry soap, shampoo, etc; Would definitely stay again and share with friends and family.

Best place to stay to see Dambo trolls
The hosts were attentive and gracious. The home was well set up for shared and private time. There were lovely soaps and shampoos in the restrooms. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and there are indoor and outdoor eating areas. Though some in our party have lived in MN for decades and others had been to the state a dozen times, we'd never been to Detroit Lakes, MN. We came to visit this quaint town and also to see Thomas Dambo's six trolls. The first troll is a 10 minute walk from this home. The other five trolls are a short drive. In visiting the trolls we saw many natural parts of MN which were beautiful and welcoming. The trip refreshed our souls and the home was a great place to return to each day and share meals.

A must stay if you’re in DL!
This house was absolutely the cutest! It was so close to the lake and restaurants for our group and was the perfect size for our group of 5! Chris is such an attentive host and responds so quickly if you ever need him and is one of the best hosts I’ve ever worked with! 10/10 would stay here again if I’m needing a place to stay in Detroit Lakes!

Perfect Stay
We had such an amazing experience here! The house was beautifully done and super clean. It’s a quick walk to the beach and all the beachfront restaurants. The hosts had great communication before and throughout our stay. Every time they communicated, it was timely and relevant, we were never left wondering about anything. The expectations or rules were very clear and in line with what you’d expect for staying in someone’s home. They even had the checkout list and a binder with tons of information easily accessible. The house also had everything you could want or need, especially for families with little ones! It’s obvious that these hosts take pride in their guests experience and their home and it showed in everything they did. I would 100% come back and recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay near the beach in Detroit Lakes!

This was my second stay at this VRBO and again the owners, Chris and Kensie were great. Their home is beautiful, immaculate and easy to check in. The Pavilion, the lake, restaurants, many shops and clinic/hospital are all within walking distance. I highly recommend this VRBO!!

BEST HOST and HOSTESS !!
Beautiful home, very clean, incredible and secure internet (I easily dialed into my work server located in Minneapolis), easy check in are only a few words to describe this VRBO. I have stayed in other VRBO's with family for vacations, but this was not a vacation for me. I checked in on the 5th of May after I changed my reservation 3 or 4 times and Chris and Kensie were very accommodating. My knee replacement surgery was on the 10th, and I had family members coming and going to check/care for me. Chris was very upfront and said I would have 3 steps to go up and down to get in their house, but that there is a railing. I had no problem getting in and out. On the third or fourth day after surgery, I received a beautiful floral arrangement wishing me a speedy recovery from Chris and Kensie. I was so surprised and that made my day. This was not an easy surgery for me; but the house main floor was wide open, and I could get around very easily with my walker. If you are looking for a place to stay for surgery or vacation; this IS the place. Even though I couldn't enjoy the lake this stay, my family did when it wasn't raining. It's only a few blocks away (easy walking distance). Thank you, Chris and Kensie; I will definitely be back. Andrea

Great Weekend Getaway
My friend and I stayed at this property over the weekend and surprisingly were able to stay within a 2-block radius the entire time. In one direction you have the lake, beach, and bars/restaurants. In the other direction, you have shops, a cafe, co-op, bookstore, brewery, and restaurants. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. For two women, we felt safe the entire time and had a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Girls Weekend at Escape on Lake!
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent weekend stay at Escape on Lake. We found the home very clean, comfortable and well stocked. The location was perfect for walks down by the lake and very close to downtown for shopping and restaurants. The host was very responsive when a small issue popped up while we were there. My extended family and I had a full house with 7 of us staying at the property. The beds were so comfortable. I don't think I've ever bragged about such a great night sleep away from home. The kitchen and baths were well stocked with amenities to make our stay even better. The bathtub, which is huge, got a lot of use and enjoyment. I would definitely stay here again when visiting DL!
