About this property

Big Sky Guest House - Enjoy the stars in Fredericksburg, TX!

Get away from it all at the Big Sky Guest House. Located 15 miles from Downtown Fredericksburg, Big Sky Guest House is the perfect spot to get away from the stress of everyday life. The only traffic jam you'll experience here is when the local cows, goats, or sheep decide the grass really is greener on the other side!

Bring your telescope or your camera to enjoy a night sky unspoiled by the lights of the big city, or just sit out on the front porch with the beverage of your choice and drink it in with your eyes. In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on the back landing while you watch the sun come up to the sounds of nature and feel your stress melt away.

Into riding a motorcycle or a bike? Our back roads offer a beautiful ride, with 8.3 miles to Highway 87 and 8.7 miles to Highway 290. For hikers, we are just a short drive (22 miles) to Enchanted Rock.

If you decide you need a little more excitement (and live music), Hilltop Cafe is a mere 10 miles away and in 20 minutes you can be enjoying brisket mac and cheese at Hondo's. Fredericksburg offers a variety of shopping opportunities, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and many delicious eateries. Multiple wineries and distilleries are within a short drive, and you can't miss going to Luckenbach for some live music at the dance hall!

The Big Sky Guest House is located on a 28-acre ranch with two resident Texas Longhorns. Other wildlife you may see: hawks, humming birds, painted buntings and other songbirds, wild turkeys, white tailed deer, fox, and armadillos. You'll also see and hear the not-so-wild goats, sheep, cows, llamas, and donkeys on neighboring ranches.

The rustic, metal roofed guest house offers:
Bedroom 1: king bed;
Bedroom 2: queen bed and twin-size bunk beds;
1 bathroom with walk-in shower;
Kitchenette including a Keurig coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, electric skillet, double burner hot plate.
Large living/dining area where you can gather to talk about your adventures;
DVD player with 32” smart TV and a selection of DVDs available.

Cottage tucked away in the hills outstanding service, amazing accommodations, and outstanding star gazing views. Never imagine going to bed in completely in silence, while waking up to the sound of counting sheep’s. Priceless!

Came for Oktoberfest, will come back for the breathtaking sky and amazing hosts.
The home is so inviting and comfortable. We really enjoyed our weekend at the property. We spent Saturday in Fredricksburg at Oktoberfest, the drive into town is fun with the winding roads, views and animal sightings. While at the property our family had fun watching and talking to Rocky and Bullwinkle. We also brought our telescope along and were not disappointed with what we could see. The sky is beautiful. Jenny and Eric went above and beyond. We were celebrating our 13 yo birthday and they decorated the table with balloons and flowers, gave her a card and her favorite dessert. She definitely felt special!! They even sent us easy to follow directions. Thank you for being a part of our fantastic weekend getaway.

Wonderful Hosts and Property
We loved our stay. It was the perfect location for us we had family about 5 miles away. The property was immaculately clean and they provided many great items. They had coffee, toiletries and even made us ice and put water in the fridge. We loved the view, fire pit and longhorn cows walking around. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. Overall it was just a great experience.

Eric and Jenny's guest house is an extremely nice, very comfortable place to stay while exploring Texas hill country and local wineries. They are amazing hosts and excellent communicators about everything related to the stay and the area. We had lots of questions which they very promptly answered. We would highly recommend Eric and Jenny's guest house to anyone wanting to spend some time exploring Texas hill country and enjoy some peace and quiet!

Stars and Longhorns
We really enjoyed our stay! The kids loved seeing the longhorns walking around close by. We got to relax and enjoy the scenery by the fire pit. With the clear sky, the stars are so pretty! The house has ample space and games inside. My daughter loved making hot chocolate in the coffee maker, so it was great that was an option! We liked chatting with Eric and Jenny when we saw them. It is about 25 minutes to town, but there are a lot of animals to see on the drive!

Great long weekend!
We drove in with our three littles from Houston for a long weekend. The drive is fun as there is a lot of livestock to see that entertained the kids on the country roads. The hosts were very gracious with things like bottled water and firewood and were extremely great communicators prior to and throughout the stay. We enjoyed walking the property with the kids and long camp fires in the evening. We had a great time!

The property is gorgeous, and the hosts were beyond kind and accommodating. The guest house has most items you would need to have a comfortable stay, and there's two extremely cute longhorns who live on the ranch that will come by and say hello in the mornings. I really appreciated some of the little touches provided in the home, such as, little bottles of shampoo/conditioner, makeup removal wipes. Small amenities that just made our stay a little easier. Enchanted rock is about a 35 minute drive away, and there's plenty to eat and drink in Fredericksburg which is about 20-30 minutes away. This is a working ranch that is surrounded by another working ranch, so be cautious driving in or out as there are livestock roaming but it was fun to see sheep, goats, and cattle hanging around just doing their thing. I highly recommend this location, and I will be staying here if I make it back to Fredericksburg in the future.

Outstanding
I’m a seasoned “VRBO-ER” and this is the best experience we’ve had. Guest house was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and exactly as pictured and described. Our hosts were super! They helped us with things to do, added a night to our stay on the day we were scheduled to leave, and most importantly, when a nasty spring storm rolled in they texted us several times to make sure we were ok. Thanks Eric and Jenny! We hope to make a second trip.

This was our second stay at this beautiful place and we are so happy we chose to stay here again. Eric and Jenny are the kindest and most hospitable hosts you could ever ask for. The house is clean and the scenery is absolutely amazing! We really enjoyed watching the beautiful longhorns, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and the abundant population of redbirds. They were also so nice to provide a pack n play for our baby to sleep and play in :)

Hill Country Bliss
If your looking to get away from the city lights, Eric and Jenny has prepared just the place you. The guest house is the only house besides the Owner's main house of which the reside. You will not have to share any of the property or amenities with other vacationers. I am an avid VRBO consumer and the Hosts who live just up the hill on the 27 acres are the best hosts I've ever had. The guest house is like new and greatly appointed with its decor/furnishings. Everything is spotless and very will cared for. The other reviews of this property are 100% accurate and it is a 5 star property that is a must stay. Hill Country's Finest!

Milky Way Views at Home Away from Home
It was our first trip to Fredericksburg for our annual mother/daughter trip, and we loved the entire weekend. We picked Big Sky based on the views and description, and it didn’t disappoint. Jenny and Eric were amazing hosts with great communications. The cabin was immaculate, with all the small details considered (perfect linens, plenty of towels, toiletries, coffee and tea pods, a first aid kit, and even fresh flowers on the table). Amazing views by day (hills, sunrise, sunset, longhorns, deer, armadillo, cardinals) and even better by night (Milky Way and constellations). We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. Please note it is a bit out of town. If you plan on running back and forth multiple times each day, it’s going to take up some of your time. If you love to shop and play by day and escape to solitude by night, it’s perfect! For us, it was everything we wanted.

Stop Looking, this is where you want to stay.
Beautiful property far enough away from town to see the stars, close enough to easily head into town. The drive out is gorgeous--when they say there is livestock and wildlife, they mean it! We had a "traffic jam" of goats on the road on morning! Drive slow, lots of deer and cows. I have never stayed anywhere that was so well appointed. Literally ANYTHING you needed they had. Flash light, stuff to start a fire, coffee, bug spray, tampons/pads, face wipes, everything you would need to cook or grill....literally everything. I could not say more about this place--you just need to stay and discover it, you won't be disappointed. Very spacious, beautifully decorated and comfy beds. Say hi to Rocky & Bullwinkle when you are there (the long horns) and grab a coffee and watch the hummingbirds tackle each other at the feeder! Can't wait to go back!
