Clean and comfortable but renovate the stairs
We had a room in the annex, which was tiny but very clean and comfortable and recently renovated. The room had a massive king bed with a memorable headboard and wood frame; the room was well-decorated, respecting the local history, Pluses include robes and a shared sheltered balcony (which overlooks the parking lot and the main hotel). Lost a point for not explaining in the room description that it was not in the main part of the hotel and accessed only by a staircase that needs some maintenance.

The room was charmingly beautiful. Staff was friendly and helpful. We have never had such a comfortable bed, we didn't want to leave. We wanted something quaint and historical, it exceeded our expectations. But if you are looking for modern amenities like microwaves and refrigerators you won't find them. But there is water, coffee and tea on every floor with lovely balconies to sit and enjoy the scenery. We hope we can return soon.

We loved the hotel and location, however, we are seniors and getting our bags upstairs was difficult. We were in the rear building. We would stay again but make sure there was an elevator for us to take bags up and down.

It is a very unique place to stay. The staff is very friendly. Love the old elevator. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. We would stay there again for sure.

This was an exceptional hotel experience. In addition to the property's uniqueness, no effort was spared in providing the touches, amenities, and extras which made staying here special. The staff was outstanding, and the location in the heart of town could not have been better. I highly recommend.

Convenient location in the heart of the old town area, rooms are clean and staff is very helpful. The hotel sports the oldest elevator in Colorado and it is small, so you may have to make a few trips to get all your luggage sorted out. Wheelchairs would be a challenge to fit. We loved the open deck on the top of the second floor where you could sit in leisure and watch the steam trains come and go.

Absolutely wonderful place with so much character and charm. Very well up kept in excellent condition, clean and the staff was incredible. Just steps away from the Durango Silverton train which is what brought us to town. 10 out of 10 would absolutely stay here again.
