All in all, the house was nice enough, but our cumulative experience was less than our expectations.
The stay started out w/ checking in at 4PM to a uncleaned house. We contacted the owner & he explained that their cleaner missed it because of a personal booking not on the schedule. We had to find something to do for 4.5 hours while they cleaned. Arrived at 8:30pm to a dark house w/ no outside lights. Used our phone flashlights to find the key and get in, & the lights outside would not turn on. We unloaded in the dark & almost busted my face trying to manage flashlight & luggage. They contacted me at 10:30 to make sure we got in, & I told him about the lights, but never fixed. We had to load in dark also on departure. I was disappointed that the owner did not offer any sort of credit or refund to us for being inconvenienced & delayed checkin.
No welcome guide or instructions in the house. Nice fireplace, but we couldn’t figure out how to turn the fire on (found the fan but no fire). Also no check out guide, so we had to ask what to do, where to take trash, etc. They wanted us to run and unload the dishwasher, which was a strange request, with no detergent.
Broken tiles coming up in the hall bathroom.
Sharp metal coming out on back of couch.
Painted light switches hard to flip.
Beds were pretty comfy.
Internet and TV worked well but only cable in living room.
Driveway is VERY steep, so we were thankful there was no snow. Backing down was tough.
