Set on a startlingly beautiful elevation on the sprawling 18-hectare property of Breakneck Gorge, and just minutes from the main street of Daylesford, Oikos was designed as an indulgent retreat from the city.

The multi-award-winning Oikos is a sculptural creation that both complements and disappears into the rugged precipices on which it perches.

The extraordinary external angles enhance a dramatic, open-plan interior. Inside, smartly designed spaces with staggering outlooks are, from every angle, framed by breathtaking picture windows peeking out onto gum trees and the celebrated townships of Hepburn Springs and Daylesford.

The power of these remarkable outlooks reveals itself in the stunning bedroom, with two huge windows tempting you to leave the blinds open and sleep in starlight.
A jaw-dropping bathroom is dominated by an egg-like, black cast concrete bathtub, it's perfect for soaking away your cares.

The hero feature in the living area is a cowhide daybed ensconced in a picture window, the ideal spot in which to lose yourself. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors peel back, spilling out onto the spotted gum deck.

One of two luxury accommodations at Breakneck Gorge, Oikos is strategically located so that its windowless, rock-like rear façade ensures privacy. Design and nature coincide seamlessly so that the only company you are likely to encounter at this astounding retreat are the mobs of kangaroos that graze and laze in easy view.

Named Oikos (pronounced eekos) after the Greek word for dwelling this thrilling retreat was designed and built as a place for love, laughter and peace. And just as the ancient Greeks understood it, Oikos is a dwelling place for friends and family to call home, even if only for a weekend. Upon arrival, the owner will briefly meet you at the door to ensure everything is perfect for your stay.
