Avoid by all means if you can

Posted 11 Feb. 2019 on Hotels
Our stay was more than disappointing and fully confirms the other negative reviews on this and other platforms. Unfortunately other properties were fully booked at time of booking and as we were only staying for the night, we figured this could be a great value for money place. How wrong we were! As our driver dropped us in front of the hotel, I thought he must have made a mistake. The hotel facade does not look anything like the pictures and is covered in what looks to be a construction site. The other images of the rooms by no means represent reality either and have been photoshopped to make them look new, while in reality it is the exact opposite. Check-in was mostly efficient but the big shock came when we entered the hotel area post the lobby. The entire hotel smelled like sewage and our room on the 3rd floor was not spared by this smell either. Rooms are not maintained at all and the room's condition is more than appalling for the money charged. I read one review about the condition of the bedframes - and had a similar experience. The beds do not have any slats, rather they have a thin plywood insert in place of the slats. The mattresses are super thin (10cm) and cheap quality, just laying down for more than a minute (normal body weight!) makes your back / hips sink right into the plywood. We felt as if we were laying on the concrete floor and had the most uncomfortable sleep. Avoid this place by all means if you can and look for other alternatives!

Nice pool and helpful staff

Very helpful staff and a nice pool to relax by after a morning of walking however the room was basic and we wished we had booked one with a balcony, also no fridge.

There was nothing good at this hotel. The room was tiny, bathroom even smaller. It was a glass partitioned shower but the bathroom was flooded by water seeping through the bottom. Elevator got stuck half way due to electricity failure. Electricity was failing numerous times. The front desk was so poor and unhelpful Would not stay here ever again. Will spread the word around not to stay here.

we were first put into a room with two beds, staff promptly upgraded us. room and general hotel had quite a damp smell to it but I feel its the ella area, wet season and being in the mountains. perhaps dehumidifiers in rooms may help. staff were very helpful and hotel was in great proximity to everything ella has to offer.

Great location

Good clean hotel in great location. Pool was a good inclusion. Service wasn’t up to the usual high standard of other hotels in the country.

Don’t think twice - skip this hotel!

Posted 2 Sep. 2018 on Hotels
We booked this hotel after reading quite a few of the reviews - some good, some bad. We were spending only one night, it couldn’t be that bad....we were proven wrong! We arrived in the afternoon and checked in 7 PM - the experience was pretty much what you expect. The staff told us that we had been given a “very nice room”. We got to the room and realized that our room was one of the very few rooms that did not have a balcony or any view to the beautiful outside. Disappointing, but did not think too much about it! We placed our bags in the room and went to the restaurant. We had fried rice and a sea-food platter...the fried was decent but the sea food was outright embarrassing.. the fish dry as cardboard, the crab the smallest crab I have ever seen with no meat on it, the squid-rings burnt, and tiny shrimps not worthy the stick they were on... the service was okay. After exploring Ella a bit we decided to go to bed.. we got back to the hotel at 11:45PM and realized that the “new” bedsheets/pillowcases were dirty!! Walked down to the reception - met be a sign telling us that the reception was unattended as from 10:00PM. Back in the room we called the general manager - no answer! We tried all numbers listed at the hotel room - no response! We even contacted Hotels.com which tried to get a hold of the manager. After 1h we managed to get a hold of security that contacted someone to fix it....! Needless to say, we’ll not be returning or recommending this nightmare hotel to anyone

Good location, ok hotel

Posted 2 Apr. 2018 on Hotels
Can’t beat the location of this hotel and at a reasonable price. Breakfast was good and WiFi was fine. Room was a bit tired and I had issues with A/C and the fan. Pool wasn’t open on my first day which was disappointing. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Renovation work

Posted 27 Oct. 2017 on Expedia
We should been told about the refurbishment work done to the front of the hotel.lift and Wi-Fi were not working properly. The staff however were very friendly. Room was clean but due to the renovation work, all you could hear was the drilling .

Stadthotel mit Pool, AC und Minifridge

Posted 30 Mar. 2019 on Hotels
