Stay before Edinburgh Airport flight
We stayed here to be close to the airport for our flights the next day. For that purpose, this is a great location. This is a very nice, older property with one of the most confusing layouts that I have ever seen. I think that we got lost every time we left the room. We had dinner at the restaurant that overlooks the pool area and that was ok but very warm/humid. We also had the buffet breakfast and that had the usual offerings. This hotel does not have air conditioning and that made some parts of the stay very warm and uncomfortable. Just something to keep in mind if you are staying during the summer months. Overall - we would stay here again if we find ourselves in the area with an early flight the next day.

Lovely old world charm, beautiful grounds, helpful & friendly staff. Rooms were clean and dining on site was fun. Nice walk to the bus made it easy ride to downtown Edinburgh (bus about every 15 minutes)

We had a bit of trouble when we tried to check in upon our arrival. After further review, it seems someone else was given our room. The hotel receptionist was able to resolve it after speaking to the manger. Our stay was only one night, so we didn’t get the opportunity to take full advantage of all of the hotel amenities. However, we did have a lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Great Golf experience
Staff was friendly and helpful. Bellman was exceptionally nice and helped us get golf gear and luggage up to our room. Golf course was beautiful and long but fair - very well maintained.

Stay was single night before an early flight, airport hotels fully booked as Royal Highland Show was on. Very poor experience on check in, receptionist was unfriendly and condescending, whilst guests checking in next to us were extremely loud which caused problems being heard. Family room was a good size, beds comfortable and good quality linens. Bathroom a bit dated but fine. Sound insulation poor and guests appeared to gather nearby our room throughout the evening. The hotel seemed a bit tired, food in the Brasserie was fine but not to the level the menu would suggest. We did not use the pool.

No plugs by the bed...seriously. Otherwise, the room was fine but the neighbors were loud. Food was inedible at the Brasserie (wasted $200) and the formal dining has worse reviews so we ordered a pizza from Dominos later for dinner. Will not go back.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room is comfortable, though not large. Nice bathroom with a good shower. Restaurant meals were reasonable and well prepared. Wish we could have stayed longer, but used the hotel as a base to get a flight home.

A lot of positives, especially location and amenities. The hotel laid on a room with big screen and bar for the football and also provided complimentary sandwiches. Nice touch. But I will never understand the mentality of properties that charge £250 per night watering down the orange juice at breakfast to save a few pennies on costs. What are they thinking? Breakfast is a bit of a circus - needs more space and more staff and training so that when cleaning tables between guests they don't just wipe all the crumbs onto the floor. 😱

The property is quite good. The rooms were quite spacious as well. The only issue was that one of the rooms didn't have a lock in the bathroom. But they did give us a new room the next day. Also the other room's usb charger port near the bed was not working.
