I was looking for a last-minute getaway within a 2-hour drive of Kansas City and stumbled upon this gem. I had never heard of Fayette, Mo., before, but it was the pictures of the property that attracted me. The only thing not shown in the pictures were the updated family room furniture--a large, comfy sectional--and the awesome desk/nook for working... complete with a printer!
The backyard was amazing! Fire pit, grill, and comfortable patio furniture. The perfect place for morning coffee or a Bailey's and coffee (left for me by the hostess!) to end the evening.
The town was pretty dead on Sunday when I arrived and it was difficult to find a place to eat that was open, but a quick text to the hostess and she sent me some great ideas.
My dog--who is very picky about where she pees!--was hesitant to "go" in the backyard. The nearest grass is around the town square about a block away. We walked several loops around the courthouse!
As a single, female traveler the town felt very safe for walking... even at night. You can walk everywhere.
The only downside (or maybe upside!) was that Sprint/T-Mobile does not cover Fayette with cell phone service so I could only text people with iPhones by connecting to wifi, but I couldn't send or receive calls.
The hostess was awesome! She knew I was traveling with my dog and gave me some great tips on where I could go with her. We made a day trip to Columbia (where my grandmas used to live and where my dad grew up) and also to the winery and Katy Trail in Rocheport.
I would definitely stay here again!
