Right off the breezeway deck, we have a gas grill and picnic table for outside cooking and dining. Later in the evening relax rewind and recount the day's adventures around the firepit. The woodshed is loaded with free firewood. Behind the house is a two-acre play and picnic area bordered by a small creek. A place to run your dogs, play badminton, volleyball, horseshoes or simply sit by the creek and contemplate the water flowing on its trip from the mountains to the sea while sipping wine with your favorite other. During the season we encourage you to make use of the blueberry bushes and enjoy the fresh fruit. While it is possible to glimpse the mysterious floating lights of the Great Smoky Mountains at times, guests are more likely to experience their light in the glow of the campfire, the glimpse of a firefly, or the flash of light as the sun sets down the valley. The entire guesthouse is available for your use, along with 2 acres of creekside yard. Although quiet and somewhat secluded, it is only a ten-minute drive to downtown Franklin on paved roads with easy year-round access. Come visit our Great Smoky Mountains. Relax, reconnect and recharge. Experience your life when you stay with us.

Downtown Franklin is about 8 minutes from the house. Franklin offers a unique charming small mountain town feel with plenty of options for dining, shopping, museums, breweries, activities, events, and much more. Franklin is considered the "Gem Capital of the World", where you can mine for precious stones, explore the natural beauty of the Nantahala Forest, check out the Little Tennessee River, or enjoy one of the many festivals put on by the town. Go to youtube: Experience Franklin NC for a quick overview. The entire western North Carolina region is famous for their trout fishing. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and the illusive Brook Trout are all caught in rivers, brooks, and creeks throughout the mountains.
Dillsboro is about 15 minutes from the house. Enjoy the quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants. You can join a white water rafting trip on the Tuckasegee River, which offers fun for the whole family!

Cherokee is just a short drive away. Bet on Harrah's Cherokee Casino to try your luck. With a little luck you can bring home a fortune. Explore the home and history of the Cherokee people.

Great Smoky Mountain National Park is only 35 minutes away. Trails, picnics, wildlife, scenery, long mountain range views. The United States' most popular national park.

Sylva 18 minutes away - Shopping, restaurants, 5 local breweries and Western Carolina University with its activities and sports.

Bryson City 30 minutes away - try out Deep Creek for a fun adventure for the whole family. Rent tubes and float down the creek, lots of hiking/walking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. Ride Smoky Mountain Railway with a steam locomotive.

Bryson City also has a great downtown area for shopping, food, candy, ice cream, breweries, restaurants, and a fantastic park along the river accessible by footbridge only. This park offers a secluded landscape for tourists, hikers, wildlife watchers, and anglers. This park may hold the area’s largest and oldest tree. Visit Island Park, and you will not be disappointed.

Looking for adventure, Nantahala Outdoor Center is 40 minutes away. This is the place to go to kayak or SUP Lake Fontana, fly above the trees with Mountaintop Zip line tours, or test your skills at the Zip Line Adventure Park. River trips and rafting are among the many things to do, and there are also packages that include multiple excursions. There are also 9 miles of biking trails, an outfitter's store, and dining options. Great place to take the family!

We are a vacation home. We do not rent for construction subcontractor housing as we are not a commercial property with parking for any heavy equipment. Please do not ask.

Perfect Cottage for Couple + Pet (and more)
This was the perfect place to stay for the wife and myself -- plus our elder family dog (the ground was level enough for him to be stable around the vast open backyard) -- for an elongated weekend visit to celebrate our daughter graduation from WCU. The common areas were bigger than the pictures led me to believe and it was perfect for evening gatherings and barbecue. Easy to get to; Just be aware it's the usual well-water and septic for the area... so bring your own drinking water if you don't like that. Oh, and watch out for the main bathroom sink that likes to splash a bit on full! ;-) You'll love this charming cottage and site.

Perfect for us!
Just as advertised. This home was perfect for us. Super close to good grocery store, gas, downtown Franklin, and even Walmart. Easy to find. Close to the tight twisty mountain roads that we went there to ride our motorcycles on. Susan (Mary) and Walt were excellent hosts. Even though our plans were impacted by Hurricane Helene, we still had a good time. We NEVER lost power! That in itself is a miracle!! The entire area was impacted with no cell service, internet, cable. Thankfully they had plenty of games in the home for us to entertain ourselves. If the home is available when we travel to the area in the future, we'd definitely stay again :)

Superb location, extra privacy
This property is clean, well stocked, quiet and private. The 2 separate homes are separated by a nice breezeway. I felt at home and loved the design. It was close to downtown Franklin and was a good central location but had a country feel. The host was thorough and had the place well stocked. The privacy that the homes afford is great as well. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful cottage and delicious blueberries
We enjoyed this beautiful and well-appointed cottage while visiting Franklin. Our pups loved the spacious yard, and we enjoyed picking fresh blueberries. Lots of nice outside spaces — front porch, breezeway, and back patio. The hosts were warm and helpful.

3/4 of a dog
The cottage is lovely, with everything you need for a short stay. The split plan, with one bedroom and bath separate from the main cottage was perfect for our adult daughter and her 2 small dogs. The large lot with stream through the backyard is peaceful.

Beautiful property, excellent amenities, easy access, comfortable beds and close to everything we wanted to do. We’ve been visiting this area for over 10 years and have rented various cabins/homes. This was by far one of our best choices! Definitely plan on rebooking this place.

We had a wonderful time at this property. The split bedrooms worked out great for our family. Nice location and really enjoyed the area. The host was fast to respond and gave us good restaurant and gem mining options. Check out nearby Waynesville if you get a chance.

Mountain views and creek to boot
The house is a lot larger than we thought. It has an awesome sitting area in the breezeway and a nice patio with a propane grill. We also had a few wildlife visitors due to the apple tree on the property and the creek. We had about 7 deer and a couple of groundhogs. Over all this place is well worth more than just a five day stay like we had. The hosts were awesome and even came to greet us which I am glad we got to meet them. I would totally recommend this place you must visit.

Lovely cozy cabin in a perfect location
Very cute, "not so tiny house". Two couples had plenty of room and privacy with one bed and bath across the breezeway. Great location for our needs, close to everything and on a paved road. Looking forward to returning.
